Hiyaaaaaaaaa BABES!
Babes,
I've been away mostly because work is filtering all sorts of social networks type of sites. They haven't filtered OH yet, but I'm just being extra cautious in this times of "jobs are not easy to come around".
Here are my latest headlines:
1 - Weight - Still amazingly stable at 160lb, solid size 8 on bottom and small or 6 on top (mostly carried in my Brazilian butt), with a minimal variation of 1 lb up or down. I'll be 2 years out in December and never in my life I was able to maintain my weight stable for more than a month.
2 - New Ventures - Some of you might not know, but my transfer addiction post op became crochet and knitting. I've always done them, but now I have magnified my hobby to sort of a business. People use to ask me where I got my crochet and knitwear all the time, and I've always designed or re-designed my stuff. So, for fun, I put together 3 patterns and I'm actually selling them. The response has been way better than I expected, so I'm going to keep designing. The cool thing is that this hobby keeps my hands and mind busy and away from food. I truly recommend you all to pick some kind of hobby to help with this process. If you want to see pics of my designs, they are here: bonitapatterns.etsy.com
3- TRYING to be PREGGO - Since I'm about to finish grad school and I'm almost 2 years post op, we decided to seriously start trying for a baby last month. Nothing yet, though. I'm slightly worried, but I'm a natural worrier, anyway. Basically I worry that I'm no young chick... 37 y.o. now. and DH has been MO since his teens, which can sometimes can affect things. Docs told us to try for 6 months before looking into fertility issues, but I have already scheduled an appointment with a fertility specialist for December, when will be about 3 months of trying. Any words of wisdom, babes? Did any of you started having babies at an older age? One of the main reasons why I had RNY was to be healthier to be a mom, as my PCP at the time told me that I was better off having a pregnancy at a later age, but with a normal weight than younger and MO.
4- DH - My DH is about 14 months out now and he lost 103 lbs. If I'm not wrong, this means that he lost about 65% of his excess weight. I suspect that he was slightly disappointed. Percentage wise I've lost 90% of my excess weight, the other 10%, pardon me, remains in the butt. To be honest, I thought that as a men he would have had even better results, but I think after seeing the numbers he seems to be more interested in making an extra effort. I think if he follows the rules better he will surely be able to knock at least another 30 lbs.
I LOVE YOU ALLLLLLLLLL! Wish I could be here more often.
Lianka

Glad to hear your DH is getting back on board. I know sometimes life gets in the way and you have to make a real concerted effort to get back on track!

Jody, babeeeeeeeee.
Thanks for thinking of my mamma! She's doing great. She's 8 months out now and has lost about 80 lbs. Considering that she has hypothyroid and a really messed up metabolism, she is doing fantastic and looking ssssoooo good each day that goes by.
However she is in that "phase" where she still hanging on to her old, baggy, falling pants wardrobe. She doesn't want to invest in clothing til she's where she wants to be.
She has a collection of Kaftans (nicer name for ugly moo moo dress) that she still hanging on to. I told her when she gets to her goal weight I will personally host a "burning kaftans cerimony". Seriously... I can't stand those looking like a tent dresses... it does not make her new body justice.

It is so good to hear from you. Sounds like you are doing great!! Congratulations on keeping your weight steady.
My DD tried for over a year to get pregnant. She went to specialists and got shots and everything. They finally stopped worrying so much about it, went to the beach one weekend for a vacation and now have a beautiful little girl. She was 30.
I had my surgey around the same time as your DH and I am still losing weight. It is just a lot slower now. He can do it.
Take care and let us hear from you more!!

Linda, babe, I'll let him know you still losing. He does too, when he slows down on the carbs and evil chocolate. Nevertheless, from his original 347lbs to his current 245lbs and being 6" he is looking mighty fine.

Great to hear that, Maria. Most of my friends had their first at between 34-39, and all had healthy babies. A couple of them had to undertake fertility treatment, in vitro and such, tough. I have nothing against the help of science to achieve the results we need, so if it comes to that, cest la vie!

Thanks for posting, wondered where you have been!!
Sounds like life is good in your neck of the woods. Good luck (and have fun LOL) trying to get preg. I would not expect you to have any problems. Women are certainly doing it at much later ages these days.
Your needle work business sounds great...ALMOST makes me want to pick up my cross stitch again. (It was costly, I usually got bored with a piece before I was finished with it and then I didn't know what to do with it LOL)
Congrats on about finishing your Masters degree, (or is it a Doctorate?) AND maintaing your wt for 2 yrs!!!
Come around when you can.

Jane... if you like needle arts, you might want to give a try to crochet or knitting. You can start with small projects (hats, socks, scarves) and see where it goes. It's not much of a expensive hobby, if you do not become a yarn snob.
The cool thing is that once your project is done you can certainly wear it, gift or even sale. I recommend it. It keeps me somewhat "sane" ****upational therapy, I guess).
I'll be getting a Masters in Public Administration. I might get a PhD in the future, only after a considerable break from school (5 years +) and if I'm lucky again to get a fellowship or scholarship.
