Can someone please advise what is the 5 day pouch test.  I was reading what one member was about being frustrated and I am too.  I know a couple of girls who had surgery 2 weeks later than I and a month later and have lost 117 pds and 130 pds and I am at 90.  They are able to eat certain things , break andeven have a drink or piece of candy and I havent had anything yet I was supposed to as advised by the dr.  I have even started exercising more.   I am extremly happy for the girls but thinking what about me?  what can I do different.  I feel like my time is running out since my one year is on December 4th.  So when I ready about the pouch test I thought this is something maybe I should do?  Any ideas???

First of all, you shouldn't compare yourself to other people. The absolute pounds aren't what's important. Heavyweights often lose more weight than we every week yet we often get to goal faster. Also, everyone is different. Different ages, different metabolisms, different activity levels...

Everyone does lose at different rates and you will see folks here that lost well after the first year.
I think the pouch test is just going back to basics.  Protein drinks, fluids, etc.  I haven't seen it written but have heard folks talking about itl  I think it is just a way to start over when you have gotten off track.
It is very helpful to me to list on Roz! Meals and Miles daily and see what I am eating vs other.  Don't know How far you are for goal, etc but as we get closer, it goes more slowly.

Just based on what I've heard over time, it's way too soon for you to consider doing something as drastic as the 5 day pouch test, which has questionable results to begin with.

I would have an honest talk with your doctor or nut, keep a very thorough journal of everything you eat, even if its just for a couple of days a month, and really take a look at your exercise. It has to be intense & sustained.

And I agree with not comparing your weight loss to anyone else's. Look how far you've come already! 90 pounds is great!!

Was it me???   I totally understand where you are coming from - it is very hard to see others that are passing you by in the weight loss game.   My biggest fear is that at a year out, I have blown it.  No reason not to stay on track, though.

I am on Day 3 of the pouch test and so far, so good.  (BTW, I was a year out on Oct 14, so not much further than you.)  As of today, I have already lost 5 pounds.  I am guessing theat means I was retaining fluids from all of the garbage I was eating!  Keep the faith!

Hello, yup it was you lol.   I do not keep a list of what I eat but know I am not eating anything I am not supposed to.   Its wierd hearing I was a lightweight for the first time in my life  I started at 240 and now 174.   I spoke to my friend last night who had it two weeks after me same starting weight and is down to 145   She is able to eat certain things even had cereal yesterday I am happy for her but she doesnt want to lose anymore and says she doesnt do anything its just the weight that coming off.   I know not to compare but I so do

I know its SO hard not to compare yourself to others, but everyones metabolism is different, etc.

Something else to keep in mind is the channel length your Dr may have made/kept for you versus what someone else' doc did.  The heavier you are the shorter the channel, thus more malabsorption.  My Dr made mine 100c.  Heavier has 150c bypassed (or thereabouts).

Do you post on Menus and Miles?  How's your protein intake?  Calories?  Are you getting enough calories?  That can make a big difference too.  Do you drink protein shakes?

If you are following the rules, etc.  the 5-day pouch test probably won't do a lot for you.  Let us help you by seeing a menu for a week or so - then we can give you our advice!
