Update and personal inspiration

Good evening everyone I haven't posted an actual "post" in a while just talking to other people and responding to those. I just want to know if there were any good support groups in the Northern Virginia area that anyone was attending. Gina I think you go to a few and wanted to know if there were any coming up.

I have been doing very well. I am down a total of 43 pounds which is fabulous. I still have not been able to start working out yet so it all has been my diet. I had a couple of issues with reflux and gastritis so my doc wanted me to take it easy with my recovery. I am now officially 18 weeks out tomorrow and this month so far I have only lost 3lbs but my body is trying to play catch-up right now so it is alright.

I am literally half way to my goal I only want to get down to 140 I have an athletic build underneath the fluff as I am former military and still had to keep in shape.

I had a metabolic disorder that caused me to gain weight and prevented me from losing, along with other underlying health issues. Those that have been on the boards for a while know my story that is for the newbies.  

Anywhoo I would appreciate any tips on mixing up the protein. As far as the stall is concerned I am not the least bit worried because the work I have done thus far is enough reassurance to keep on pressing forward. Plus I see it as giving my skin time to catch up as well; just keeping it positive.

I think I spent enough time being negative and beating myself down over the weight that now that I have made the choice to change my life for the better I am just going to take it all in stride and keep pressing forward. 

My husband has still been my support system and a wonderful, understand person; I am thankful for him. This has actually been something that has pulled us closer together since he is really the only person that knows I had it done.

So great to hear you're doing so well!  Congratulations!  

I don't have advice about protein.  I pretty much eat meat.  And beans, that sort of stuff.  I rarely eat the same kinds of foods (even from the same countries, really) - just lean meats prepared a  bunch of different ways (by someone else.) 

I doubt that's especially helpful except to say that getting protein in doesn't have to be boring!  :)

Anyway, kudos to you for all of your successes.

Hi there!  Glad you're doing well after having a rough start. The next Dr Elariny support group at Fairfax Hospital is Nov 2nd. A couple of us meet at the Merrifield Swee****er Tavern at 5PM and go over to the hospital for the support group at 7PM. The next Chantilly support group is Nov 8th. We meet at 5PM at the Westfields Texas Roadhouse ahead of the 6:30PM meeting. Let me know if you can make either of those and I'll make sure we have a table.

 Hi Gina I can actually go to either one of them I am free both of those days. I may just try them both out to see which one suits me best. Can you inbox me what street the restaurants are on so I can join you? I am excited. I think a support group would be good for me right now. My DH and you all have been awesome but I think it would be good to be around folks that are going through the same thing.

Too far away to help with the support groups but in terms of protein, I have had great luck with Nectar.  I use the Latte in my decaf coffee every morning and that really is as much as I have to do each day now that I am eating meat successfully.  The Lemon Tea is a great pick-me-up in the afternoon or hot chocolate with skim milk or skim milk and protein powder if I really am lacking in the evening.  I love having "regulars" to go to so I don't have to think about what would taste good, etc.  Not to even discuss the expense of having many different kinds around.

and here u r 43 pds lighter wahoooo !!!!
go to " worldaccordingtoeggface" she has so many diff recipes for ur protein powder its amazing
i use 1 scoop of vanilla to 1 tbs of butterscotch sugar free jello pudding and its delicious or i use pistacchio just check out her web site she has amazing recipes
