WLS for 35 BMI?
Starting my pre-operative tests, i.e. EGD, gallbladder ultrasound, nutrionist and pyschology exams, etc. Anyone ever wonder if having a BMI of 35 is really worth the surgery? I'm just starting to doubt my decision to move forward with the VSG and whether my BMI is actually that bad to require surgery at this point?
Ditto what Charles said. Also consider whether or not you have metabolic issues that might prohibit WL on your own.

the intestinal part that goes with the vsg , the part that cures diabetes for real, not just tamming insulin resistance because of not eating,

Depends on the Como, diabetes, yes, because you may of had 1st didn't know it and it, or the meds made you fat,,metformin is a weight gaining drug. Sleep apnea, could be central, compounded by fat to be obstructive,,,wls wont cure central, and may ease obstructive, or you may need plastics in side your throat. Gerd, depends on which surgery, and if they fix a hiatal hernia during the wls.
further nonsense from me will require you to be specific.

So I think what you are really asking is if it is worth having the surgery, not if you can get it approved.
We can give you our opinions but most of us started out with BMI maybe a little to some larger than 35. I can tell you that I had surgery because for many years, nothing else worked. Yes, I could lose small amounts a weight then gain them back. But my hope of permanent weight loss was really 0. Most of us come to this point because we have tried everything and noting worked. I don't think anyone thought, wow, surgery, that will be fun. Or I can have surgery then I won't have to work at this weight loss or keeping it off.
Whatever surgery you chose, it will only give you a tool in losing and keeping the weight off. It isn't magic and it hard work. If that is what you are looking for, and you are willing to work the tool, you can be very successful. If not, you can spend time and money for no reason.
If you chose surgery, we will be right here with you to answer your questions and support you. But only you can make the decision if surgery is for you or not.
