HELP! Bad rash: What is better to take? bendryl or hydroxyzine?

I had a CAT scan last week that led me to urgent care this week with a really bad rash all over my body. It appears I am allergic to the die. The doc gave me a shot of something, predisone for a few days and hydroxyzine to take. I called back today to see if I should get another shot. I am not much better. The nurse said she would ask the doctor. He said to stop the hydroxyzine and take benedryl. Benedryl makes me depressed sometimes. I am hesitent on taking two as he said to do because one leaves me in tears and ill as a hornet. I thought about doubling the hydroxyzine instead. I read online that you can take up to 50-100 mg of it. The doc gave me 25mg tablets. When I got home from school today I couldn't wait to take my clothes off. I jumped in tub of aveno. Now I am debating on what to take to STOP THIS HORRIBLE ITCH!! SWiNG some prayers to make this crap go away!

 oooh I feel your frustration!  I have no advice.  But I do send you love and hope for a quick cessation of this irritation!

I was having the same problem first part of the week. Breaking out in hives from an unknown allergan source. The doc gave me hydroxyzine 25 mg also and i took one last niught and this am was better. it might make you sleepy so be aware of that. I slept like a baby all night and this morning had no sleepiness or ill effects from it.

Hope you get rid of it soon.I was miserable too. I would increase the dose to 50 mg.it is as you say a safe dose. good ;luck,

I have an autoimmune disorder that causes me to randomly break out in hives and cause my hands, feet and lips to swell. I find that zyrtec helps the most but does make me sleepy. I alternate evry 12 hours between claritin and the zyrtec as per my allergist recommendations.
LOVE the Aveeno bath, it is very soothing. Do you have an internist or regular family doc that you can get an appt with?
Make sure you are drinking lots of fluids to flush the dye out of your system.
