APPROVED!!!...with a catch
My surgeon's office called yesterday to let me know I was approved for the surgery, which was a huge releif, but expected because I meet every 'criteria' on their list. Nonetheless, I am very happy and excited to be thru that phase of the journey.
But, I cant get a date until the doctor that did my upper gi back in JULY sends the report to my surgeon, who was the Dr who made the REFERRAL. Now here is my common sense question...if your a doctor, and you get a referral for a patient for an upper gi, test is done, why do you NOT immediately send on the results to the referring doctor?? Or, did my surgeon's office have them, and they are lost in a sea of paperwork. Either way it is incredibly frustrating because I am up against the calendar. I want to have this done before the first of the year because of an insurance change---more out of pocket expense for me..=(
Im trying so very hard to remember I asked the Lord if He means for this to happen, he will open the doors....but i am so very antsy...lol! I know this was long, thanks for letting me vent/rant...lol

Congrats on the Approval!!!!!
I don't blame you for being antsy. You have a right to be. I'm guessing it got put into a folder somewhere and filed away. Most things don't get destroyed just misplaced in a busy office. I would call the Dr. and asked for it to be FAXED over ASAP to your surgeon and I would also ask for a copy of what's being sent. Tell them you will be there at a certain time to pick it up. Either way you should have a copy in your hand for your records. I always get a copy of all of my Reports.

Congrats on being approved!!
The upper GI thing also happened to a friend of mine. The surgeon needed to see the report before he would approve a Sleeve surgery. She had to be persistent and keep calling and offering to walk the report over to his office. The sad thing was that all of it happened within Kaiser so there's really no excuse for the report never getting into her file. Once it got there, it was a go within weeks.
Good luck and keep pestering them. They'll get so sick of you that someone will take action quickly. :)

How could this happen within Kaiser, when everything is available via Health Connect and the electronic record is available for all providers to see. Something doesn't sound right. Regardless of when she had the test done, any provider should have been able to see the results, unless the test was done pre-Health Connect. That sounds fishy to me. All reports are available via health connect. Maybe, there was delay in the provider preparing the report.
Kristen is good. She was allergic to the glue that Kaiser uses on our incisions so she had a set back of having an awful rash. She has had a lot of fatigue but is getting stronger all the time. We walked the 3+ miles around the lake yesterday and she did great!
