I did the Old Navy sale thing as well! Got an adorable mid-weight puffy jacket (who would imagine I'd willingly wear a puffy jacket???) in brilliant turquoise that won't do for a Northern Illinois winter, but will do just fine for those days too cold for a jacket but still in the 20's-30's, 8 long sleeve t-shirts (some are henleys), 6 short sleeve t-shirts (in both cases, I was at least 2 sizes smaller than the shirts)in lots of jewel tones, a half dozen camis with lace trim (love ON v-necks, but they're a tad too low for school without a cami), 2 pairs of rockstar very skinny jeans to wear with boots (gray jeans to go with the black pirate over-the-knee boots I bought in August, and black ones to go with my red suede flat knee high boots), a couple of long roll sleeve cotton shirts and a cute plaid bubble top. Huge amount of shopping - and I'm clapping with glee that next week will be cool enough for long sleeves here at least a couple days!

I've also been busy knitting - finished Canton in red, and am just finishing Pagoda in moss green. http://www.theknittinggarden.com/lh-chinoiserie.htm For the Canton sweater, I found pants in a small glen plaid with gray and the same red stripe as my yarn. I need next to make mittens for my new coats (the cute turquoise from ON, and the warmer brown I picked up at clearance from Lands End), and want to make another pair from this book http://www.amazon.com/Magnificent-Mittens-Anna-Zilboorg/dp/0964639130 The mitten cuffs come almost to the elbow and keep snow from getting up under your cuffs. And they are seriously easier than they look!

Hmmm... rereading this post, I guess DH is right when he says I've turned into a clothes horse and need to CUT IT OUT!!

You're making these mittens?  I love the look of them - and so practical to go up over the cuffs like that!  Be great snowshoeing or general outdoor (shoveling?) gloves too!

Sounds like you definitely hit paydirt - yea!  I bought some long sleeve v neck tshirts last year at the Gap - basically to wear under sweaters and sweatshirts for motorcycling, but have been wearing them alone on cool days.  Never would I have done that before because they would have looked so frumpy and ill-fitting - but I'm surprised how well they look now (my avatar I'm wearing the black one).

I had just thrown some clothes in a bag and headed to my daughters' and this was one of the shirts I threw in.  I've never been a t-shirt person - never liked the way they looked on me - now, well... I guess I need to reconsider.  I was pleasantly surprised it looked good on me.  I also don't like regular neck ones, feel like they're choking me.  Some of our old "dressing habits" still emerge sometimes!

I make a pair of those mittens (at least one) every year!  Usually they're for a friend, since I had mine.  But now I get to make some for me!  Yes, one friend skis and says they're fabulous, and another one is a farmer's wife in northern MN who has threatened her kids with beatings if they take her mittens once more.  Me, it's just wearing normally!

I love sale shopping - and have always been a t-shirt gal.  But now with the weight loss, I'm ok with t-shirts that have spandex in them and are a bit more fitted.  It used to be that I wanted straight cotton with a very boxy shape.

I think the whole shopping/new look thing is funny - and goes right along with how our self-perceptions don't really keep up with our reality!  That said, I'm thinking that for Halloween I may put on the very skinny black jeans with the red suede boots and my old bat sweatshirt (it's a men's 3x with black felt wings sewn in from the waist to the wrist - easy to do, easy to wear) and be a red legged bat at school!  Heaven knows that sweatshirt will be long enough to wear over the skinny jeans without giving administration an issue!  (Besides, I generally wear the sweatshirt with black jeans and running shoes and claim to be a rare white-footed bat.  One year half of the school was dressing as cowboys, so I added a cowboy hat and was a western white-footed bat.  Yeah, I get goofy.  As if you guys didn't know).

I bought a coat yesterday.  It's a little, or a lot girlie as I generally can be found in a polar tec, but I wanted something to feel girlie if I get lucky enough to score a date!  I think this week I needed a cheer me up after the accident last weekend.

I've never posted a pic here but I'll try.

PS, it looks much better on me than on the model.  I got it in a size 10 which thrilled me, particularly as it's from Paris and they run snug.

Hey Jody, I too have been shopping for clothes...picked up several different shades of kaki pants, jeans, dark brown pants and a blazer that is cream color with blue and brown pattern. Also a light brown pinstripe suit and a pair of Rockport pull on shoes in brown. Plus several polo shirts too. I have one suit I am trying to get tailored but it might not be able to as it was rather large but they are whittling it down as much as possible and I hope it will fit as I spent ALOT of money for it. Today for church I wore the blazer with a light brown button down shirt with a blue and brown tie and a nice pair of jeans and the RockPorts. Guys really like clothes too and I now feel good wearing nice things. I too find nice things at Goodwill as well.

Oh yeah, shopping in a friend's closet is great.  I'm so lucky that a friend of mine had RNY 16 months ago.  She's been passing on clothes to me.

Yesterday afternoon she opened her closet and I left her house with:

1.  Black Leather jacket
2.  Short black fake fur of some sort swing jacket - size 12
3.  Long black hooded rain slicker
4.  Light yellow rain trench coat - size 8 but fits

I'm always so grateful to get clothes passed down to me.

I'm saving all my shopping money for when I can finally buy tall leather boots!
