Hormones raging and low energy 3 weeks out

I'm 3 weeks and 1 day postop.  Overall I feel really good.  Feel pretty peppy until about 4:00 p.m.  Have only been slightly hungry about 4 times.  Working hard to get in the protein and fluids.  Have not touched anything with refined sugar.

But, I'm really cranky the last 2 days and by 7:00 p.m. I could literally drop in my tracks. Would this be from the ghrelin drop? Or the drastic reduction in calories?

I am 12 years status post a TAH-BSO so don't know about the "female" hormones.   I am walking about a mile almost every day.  They have cut me no slack at work (even though it is a desk job, it is challenging).  I'm just feeling out of sorts and blatantly seeking sympathy and suggestions.

I know I was tired for a long time after surgery.  Just keep plugging along - and sorry people at work aren't giving you any slack.  Be sure you're getting your vitamins, especially your B12... that has a lot to do with energy. I'm going to assume you aren't taking iron and don't really need to?

I took 4 weeks off from my surgery - I could have went back after 3 weeks... but since it was already pre-approved, I didn't.

We store hormones in our fat, so you probably are feeling the affects of them being relesed quickly.  It goes in stages... I noticed a few times, but most of the time it didn't really bother me.

Hang in there!  It does get better!

I went to bed at 8:30 for a long time and slept 10 hours regularly.  Still do on occasion.  It was the same week I started Pureed food that I noticed a difference in my energy level improving somewhat.  I can get through the day now, but still go to bed early.
My only hormone thing was my temp.  I was hot or cold for no reason, many times during the day.

I am taking a multi with iron, plenty of B12 and calcium with D3 (liquid).  I am eating pretty normally except for raw veggies, etc.  Trying to stay around 800 calories and 40 grams or less of carbs (don't make that every day).

My body does not absorb oral iron very well, so I get iron infusions when needed (one reason I chose the VSG over the RNY) but I don't feel like I do when my iron gets real low (breathless).  I bought some copper and zinc supplement today b/c I have heard it helps with the hair loss... it can't hurt, right?

Just gonna try to get more sleep this weekend, though the weather is so gorgeous here in middle Tennessee that will be hard to do... it won't stay like this much longer.

Thanks for all your support!

It took me a good 2 months to bounce back and I wasn't working at all.  I don't know how some of you do it going back to work so quickly.   I nevr suffered with depression before WLS but it hit me pretty hard for a couple of weeks after.

(((HUGS)))

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Ohhh! I remember those feelings so well.
It gets better I promise. Just make sure you get enough fluids and rest. Your body has been through some major changes.
I think I even posted around week 3 "feeling out of sorts"
I think it took another week or so to turn around, but it will.
Hugs!

Oh Katrina sweetie,  you just hang in there and get lots of sleep this weekend.  I went back to my desk job after one week and when I got home in the evenings, I was ready to jus****ch tv and sleep. You're back to work so I would say to not think of trying another thing until your energy starts to return.

Your calories are fine.  I think I was eating 500-600 at three weeks and had difficulty getting in all of my protein and vitamins.  You're doing fantastic.

I think that your walking is the most important part of this.  I wasn't consistent with walking until into the second month and I think it made a huge difference for me.  Keep walking and sleep at every opportunity.

Hang in there!!!  This too shall pass!!  I don't remember how long it took me to get back to "normal".  I think it might have been around 5-6 weeks?..  I went back to work after 7 weeks.  Your body is still trying to adjust to everything.  Also remember, you body is use to pushing all your hormones through your pre op body.....now you've lost some weight, some fat, etc....now it needs to learn you might not need that many hormones any more!  Not sure if this is true, but its what I told myself....made me feel better!!

Just remember, you're doing great!!!!  Keep up the walking and water!!

There are never any problems, only solutions.  quoted by a dear and special friend!!!

Starting weight 234 lbs    Height 5 ft 6 in
Goal in 7 months (127 lbs)
Currently: 120-123 lbs
Tops Small   Bottoms size 2!!!!
