i think mine were 5000 s . but i didn't take them every day not by a long shot lol.
The biggest thing that made a difference for me in stopping hair loss was zinc and iron pills and in regrowth was liquid silica drops from the Vitamin Shoppe .
Thank God my hair doesnt look too too ratty to work yet though theres pitifully little when i make a braid compared pre surgery .
At least its growing pretty FAST ....

I don't remember how much I took (1 pill a day), but you do know that it won't help with not losing, it only helps when the hair starts growing back. I started taking it about mid stream of my hair loss. I also used Nioxen Shampoo and Conditioner. My hair is even thicker now than before I had surgery.
About the only thing that will help with the hair loss is getting your Protein in.

Thanks Roz..and everyone else *****sponded..yeah I know it won't keep it from coming out but hopefully it will be healthier coming in..lol..it is doing wonders for my nails!:) I have always been a shedder so when it doess hopefully I don't even notice. I have increased my protein..I have a protein hot cocoa in the morning and one at night..plus the stuff I eat during the day(eggs, cottage cheese)..hopefully that will help until I can eat meat. (7 weeks out for me).
Thanks again... Kim

I take 1000 mcg a day and started 3 months before surgery. I wish I had been taking Biotin even prior to that--I love what it does for my nails, hair and skin! It won't prevent hair loss but my hair seemed to grow back thicker than ever before and it has such a nice shine. My nails also have grown longer and stronger. The only drawback is that I have to shave my legs and underarms daily! LOL Thats a little price to pay as far as I am concerned.
You can take anywhere from 1000-5000 mcg of Biotin. I would say 1000 mcg should be plenty. If you take too much it just passes in your urine. So you can't get hurt by taking too much. My son takes it everyday (for medical reasons), he has really thick hair! But I have to say, it does Nothing to body hair!!! So if your body hair is growing faster, its for other reasons (can't say what they would be). Zinc & Iron are also good to promote healthy hair growth. Hope I was a help to you!
There are never any problems, only solutions. quoted by a dear and special friend!!!

Hormones are probably why the body hair is growing faster.
Biotin is supposed to also help with absorbing nutrients from your food. I just learned that so I started taking it again.
