Feeling down... lots of "you're too skinny" comments

Just remember that these people have their own issues and their own biases so it's not like they see you clearly and you don't. I've had friends be told they looked like a crack ***** when they had a BMI of 30 -- that's still obese!

I have a friend who every time she sees me says "you are the amazing disappearing woman" and "you are thinner every time I see you". Um, I haven't lost any more weight in 1.25 years.

Crack ***** LOL... haven't gotten that one yet, thankfully!  The whole BMI thing is what gets me the most... I still have another 10 pounds or so before I'd be considered "underweight"...  People just don't get it!

This  is what  is used tell my clients  who did  NOT  have weight issues  but thought they looked too old , saggy  etc ....or simply wanted to put weight ON  ( yes there are  those  GRRRRR - almost always  Male though)

EXERCISE  EXERCISE EXERCISE .

as the formerly  fat , we think of exercise as simply a fat loss tool ....but the TRUTH is ...  we ( the bariatric surgery candidate  population )  tend towards  a  statistically  MESOMORPHIC  bodytype  ( in other words  were the  classic former athlete  gets fat scenario - except many of us were never  athletes  YET ...) ...

What the  statistics DO show  is that we clearly have an edge  or an inborn ability to  build attractive muscle fast  through weight resistance training  .

So  rather  than suffer the melted candle look ..... realize  U DO  have the option of going to the gym  , busting yer butt and filling it  out with  hot  firm defined MUSCLE  ......

B****hat also  probably means U  are a  talented ATHLETE  period....  so at any age, find a sport U LIKE  doing (  or better yet  2 or 3  so Ure not  overusing the same joints and muscle groups constantly )   and have FUN !!

also , in a slightly DIFFERENT  vein ,  some of the reason  we look a bit strange in the  initial rapid fat loss stage is  because  we are releasing a lifetimes worth of  built up poisonous toxins  when we empty our fat cells.

This  i think  is what  leads to gallbladder issues ...but also  can cause cancer ,  and just generally makes us look SCARY   if its not  taken care of .

The cure is VERY  simple... sweat the  toxins  out  however U can ,  but make it a PRIORITY  .   If U can't  exercise  for some reason (  or like  me , don't  ever sweat when U DO )  .... U will  need  regular access to a sauna , steam room , hot yoga class ,  or at  the very least a   super hot  super long  bath in Ur own home  ......

Try it and Ull see  how much  better U feel  and look the very next day !!

I can totally relate to this...
I had always been overweight and when I got to a normal BMI when I was 21, I heard so many "too skinny" comments. Even my mother was questioning whether I was anorexic. Ok, I still weighed 140 lbs!!

Unfortunately, I never got my emotions worked out and regained the weight at a rate of about 10 lbs a year. I listened to what everyone was saying and wasn't strong enough to trust myself.

BUT I am a different person now..older and wiser :) And meaner, I guess. If anyone makes negative comments to me...I am basically prepared to cut them out of my life temporarily...or permanently if necessary.

No one will stop me this time or make me question myself. This time I plan to react to the negative comments directly and stop them in their tracks, instead of ignoring it. It seems to me that it is human nature for others to make themselves feel comfortable at another's expense. Sad but true.

You are doing great!! Surround yourself with positive people who celebrate the new you :)

I get people still asking me why I am getting thinner- when I haven't lost weight in over a year. I have some people who tell me I am too thin, and a few who ask if I am gonna try and lose more. I have realized it is really all about their perspective and feelings and has very little to do with my weight, lol. You are at a very healthy and normal BMI and doing great, so just dismiss the comments with a smile and a nod.

I am still loving life with my sleeve! Been maintaining at or below goal for over 4 years!
"People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within."   - Ramona L. Anderson
