Headed home
I've been in Arizona for the last 9 days with limited internet access. I am sitting in the Tucson airport waiting for the Alaska Airline counter to open, so I thought I would pop in to see what the lightweights have been up to.
I did okay eating while traveling and I got in at least 5 really good workouts. Wish I would have got in a few more, but that's the best I could do. If my parents scale is correct, I may be down a few pounds.
The roughest part of the trip was to sit in their closed up 85 degree house while they chain-smoked. Everything I have with me smells of cigarettes. It is a good reminder that I never want to smoke again. They are both thin (always have been), but my dad just had 5-way bypass, pneumonia, and several stents put in last November. He has a blocked pancreas and needs more stents.....and he continues to smoke. I don't judge them....they have drank and smoked all their lives. I just know that I want to be healthier when I'm their age and I'm grateful I made the decision to have this surgery.
I hadn't seen either of them for a couple of years and they were really pleased at my weight loss. They aren't very communicative, so it felt good for them to acknowledge it.
Anyway, it will feel so good to be home tonight. :)

Glad you've had a good trip and checked in. Have a safe trip home and congrats on eating well, exercising some and doing the right things with your life.

Welcome back! Sounds like you had a good vacation. Sometimes experiences need to happen to remind us of where we've been and where we want to go.

My DD lived in AZ a few years. We loved to go visit. I loved all of the Southwestern decorations and colors there.

Welcome Home!! I'm so happy that your parents could acknowledge your weight loss and the success of your hard work.
I can so relate to the smoke. The first night in New Orleans we went to a jazz club to hear someone perform (Kermit Ruffins) who is on the HBO Treme seriesas himself. The club was small. Everyone was drinking and smoking, except me and Zach. When we got out of there, everything I was wearing smelled like smoke. I had to put it into a plastic bag to keep the room from stinking. I smoked for 22 years. Thankfully I quit in 1990.
I'm so happy that you can accept your parents and not judge them because you're powerless to change them anyways. You will definitely be healthier!!
Again, welcome home! :)

Welcome home! Isn't it great that you lost weight while traveling! I am glad your parents acknowledged your weight loss, I am sure they are very proud of you. I also wanted to have the WLS so my health would be better than my father's. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to make my life better.
Keep up the good work!
