Hello,
my name is Que and I've been around OH for the past 6 years.

Long story short: Lapband in 2004 with a starting weight of 247, got down to 200 before the silicone serpant decided to strike continuously. After having numerous unfills I gained all of the weight back and then some.

DS scheduled in Feb. 2009 with a weight of 284 lbs, but during the band removal my surgeon noticed that my body had absorbed it and had to fight to get it out..many adhesions and scartissue etc. After the 7 hour removal he decided that it would be dangerous to do the full DS, so I emerged with the sleeve.

Have lost 72 lbs with the sleeve and am maintaining but still weigh 210 lbs. I have a hernia that he has been planning to remove, so while he's in there I will be switched so that I can get to my goal of 160 lbs. I am currently in the clearance process. My psyche and medical appts. are November 8th and from there I will have a stress test and then surgery will be scheduled. I hope to have it done in February.

Well that's it, I look forward to posting and supporting as time allow.

Thanks Gina,
the band journey was like being in a horror movie, that thing was possessed. I am sure that the second stage surgery will get me to where I would like to be. I actually love my sleeve but I so afraid of gaining my weight back so I am glad to be getting the best reinforcement out there. I look forward to my future closure in regards to obesity.

Have you talked to Dr Hares about common channel length? Some surgeons like to go a little shorter than 100cm for revisions. I'm just curious, no opinion.

Yes Gina,
I think that he said that the length will be 125 but I can't quite remember. I know that he said that due to me needing to absorb my MS meds that I would have moderate malabsorption.

Ah...I see. Makes sense. I guess you want to kick a low carb diet into high gear?

Welcome Que.
Wow you have been through it.  Congratulations for not giving up like so many people would do.  Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Thanks Linda,
having a good taste of the weight loss wine keeps me focused, plus I've noticed a 200% change in my health since getting much of the weight off. I have MS and my symptoms have become much more managable and my last attack lasted only days as opposed to months.
