do you worry you will lose too much?

Hi

I started out with a bmi of 34.7, I had VSG in May and I am down 65 lbs.  My bmi is now 24.5.  I had originally set a goal that is 15 lbs less than what I weigh now.

I am soooo happy to have lost soo much weight.  It's been so easy though that I worry that I will be able to stop.  Do any of you have those worries since we started out as 'lightweights'?

Yes, I have this worry, but my pcp said she felt certain I will not go lower than my body wants me to be. It is a tad scary. but I choose to think she should know...

On the other hand... How weird is that? The possibility of getting TOO THIN??? ... bazzar really

I definitely worried, having a DS and being a LW, but my surgeon and Vitalady just told me to chill I'd stop well within normal BMI range. They were right.

I worried really bad but I have finally leveled off and I think I have stopped. I have maintained between 111 and 114 in the last 2 months. The closer to my monthly the closer I get to 114. I have gone as high as 114.4. I am 5'1 so I would be alright to go lower so they say but I am happy at this weight. I think if I go lower I would get more are you sick questions. I feel healthy and happy here hope to maintain now. I used to have nightmares though that I wouldn't be able to stop. Scary stuff. I barely met the BMI requirements starting out but the comorbids allowed me to have the surgery. Comorbids are now gone so I am glad I did. Good luck hope you have a successful experience.

Howdy,
I am extremely worried but decided that if I lose another 70 lbs then that would put me at 140 I do not remember EVER weighing that. As long as I do not become a bobble head I'll be okay, I figure that I'll ask my surgeon to prescribe Creon to slow things up if I become bobbleheadish lol.

Yes - I did worry about that. On my last consult with my nut, she told me to "Stop losing now!" and added in more fats and more meals to my day to stabilize me.

I seem to be stopping right about here now, and I'm happy (I put back 4 pounds after the visit with her, but I've been at the same place for a week now, and I know what to do if I gain too much or start losing again).

Her comment was that some bodies just adore the malabsorption, and start "flinging" weight away easily. That would describe what mine did. I really had no stalls over 3 days in length, and just kept losing at 3 pounds per week average.

However, I'm told by my surgeon's office and everyone on here that that's really unusual, so it probably won't be an issue for you. (and if it is - call me and we can commiserate!)

I worried, I think most people do (not all).  But Gina kept saying...your body will stop when its ready.  Your body knows!  Well, she was right!!  I went straight down to 127lbs, size 4!!!  I've bounced up from the 127, but I'm still maintaining a size 4!!!!  It was amazing...I hit some little stalls (seemed big sometimes), then all of a sudden I was done!!  I kept a pair of size 2 jeans someone gave me, thinking I'd be in them in no time.  Never happened, stayed at 4!  My surgeon told me when I was at 140lbs not to lose any more weight.  I told him I wanted to lose 10 more lbs.  He was insistent that I was perfect where I was, but he know I would get down to my goal.  My next visit I was!  He said as long as I feel ok, he'll leave me alone!  Been doing good ever since!!!

There are never any problems, only solutions.  quoted by a dear and special friend!!!

My stats:
Starting weight 234 lbs    Height 5 ft 6 in
Goal in 7 months (127 lbs)
Currently: 120-123 lbs
Tops Small   Bottoms size 2!!!!

To be honest, that is absolutely dead last on my list of worries.  I am a super-slow loser and I am still horribly worried that I will stop losing before I get to my goal of being really slim for once in my life!  I am losing just about a pound a week and I feel like I fight for every pound!

I'm 5'2" and 55 years old.  VSG 3/17/10
