Catching up...Libido/Hormones & personal BMI goals
Hi my fellow LWs. I have been out of town the past week, training workshop in Nashville, and trying to catch up on all of you.
I saw my GYN yesterday and she drew some hormone levels AND started me on Estrogen/Testosterone and Progesterin (sp?). I am hoping it will help with this incredibly low libido of mine. She said it would take at least a couple of weeks at least to tell, and gave me permission to double the dose of estrogen/testosterone in 2 weeks if I needed to!!! She doesn't do the pellets of testosterone. I think we are at least at a good starting point and was happy that she was sensitive to my problem.
To those of you who have started hormone therapy for this, how long did it take to see/feel any results?
Another biggy.... I went major shopping last weekend and ended up buying mainly sz 1-2 clothes at Chico's!!!! (basicly size 8-10). I am down to 171 and am 17 lbs from goal (nl BMI). I don't really care about being any smaller, but I would like to be a normal BMI...mutually exclusive, I think!! What a delima!!!!
Have any of you intentionally tried to stop loosing wt, set your goal, at more than a nl BMI?? I really look slender in my clothes, but always thought I wanted my weight to be in nl BMI range. I thought I wanted to be a size 4 or even a 6, but now 8 and 10s seem just fine!!!! I know this probably a personal decision, but what do yawl suggest??

I was on the same HRT and it took several months or maybe it was just so subtle it didn't register. Not sure but then I wasn't told I could double the doses either..hmmm. The good thing with the HRT is that it should help with bone density. Keep after the calcium and D3.
It never ever occurred to me to stop before normal BMI. I know we have bounce back and I wanted a cushion. So I chose to go low and give myself a little room. You might see a slow down or a little gain with the HRT anyway so don't try to stop yourself now.

Gina, thanks. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it goes on both fronts. I don't think I'll try to stop loosing, at least for now. Somehow the idea of eating more doesn't fell right. I would have to add snacks...alibet health ones, but just the same I am happy eating how I am now...just don't want to get to a size 4!!!Thanks for your in put.
I have been on Estrogen/progestin for about 3 months and definately can tell a difference,as can hubby.
I am more interested in starting sex and often will initiate it. Big change! I used to run the other way to avoid it if at all possible. During the event,I "feel" more,if you know what I mean, and feel more enjoyment than I have in years.
I feel more womanly and more sensual. Not exactly like in my pre-menopausal days, but a huge improvement...hmmm,now I may have to go find DH,lol.
Good luck,
H

about a week to ten days. Not only has it helped in the libido area, but i have a new interest in doing my hair and makeup. I had completely stopped caring about either of those issues too.
I like being able to appreciate my womanlyness(is that a word?) again.
I hope it works that way for you too.
An interesting side note...my endocrinologist is treating me for this issue and when I asked why no testosterone he said in studies wwwwith rats the females that were given testosterone would fight the males but the females that didn't have testosterone were all lovey dovey. If the three combo doesn't seem to help ask about leaving off the testosterone and see how that works.
