Is Not Losing Hair Normal

Okay, don't get me wrong, I don't want to lose hair, but since my surgery, my hair and nails have been growing like crazy. My hair is thicker. Am I just lucky.  My nut says it happens to some and not others and that my balanced clean diet may be helping.

Thoughts?

Andrea

So far I haven't lost any hair, but I know I'm still early out.

Because I'm so vain, I've been obsessed about protein levels from the start, which might have something to do with it?

Yeah, I have been that way about protein levels and have taken 1000mg of Biotin since 6 months before surgery. I can only imagine this has helped.

So far so good for me but I'm early out too!  I have thick hair and have always had to clean out my brush every other day.

My nails are strong and long too!  I figured it's all the vitamins...we'll see!!  I definitely think your diet is a huge PLUS!!!!

I think like anything else in life there are always differences.
Some here seem to experience significant hair loss and some not as bad.
I think that if you were able to keep your protein levels up and with the biotin, you may have dodged that issue.
The bariatric doc told us in a support group meeting that people seem to have less hair loss when their protein intake was 60g+.

Thanks for that info. I'll count myself as lucky.

Andrea,
I didn't lose much hair at all.  Mine is very thick.  I was taking vitamins and other nutrients(not biotin) way before surgery so I don't know if that helped or not.  I was going to the gym before surgery also and don't know if that was a factor.
I was not eating very healthy before surgery.

I too was doing all those things, plus going to gym. So maybe I just dodged a bullet, but who knows I'm in my 7th month. Who knows what is to come.

Hi Andrea, I am 5 months out and haven't lost any hair.  Not takin Biotin or anything else either....considering myself lucky, but still watchfully waiting...  Continued luck to us both.
