One year!

I cannot BELIEVE it's already been 1 year today since I had surgery!!!!! Time flies! I'm still about 5-7 lbs from my surgeons goal for me. I haven't lost anything in 3 months, but I do know I'm doing everything the way I'm supposed to so it must be my first real plateau! I go to Dr/ for my 1 year follow up Nov 1st b/c of scheduling conflicts. I've lost 100 lbs and have run 2 5K's another one on the 30th. I've been hiking and just overall super active (which is why I'm never on here to post anymore! sorry OH family!) I'm finally starting to see the weight loss when I look in the mirror. My hair was so yuck looking so yesterday I got it all chopped off. Not sure if I like it or not yet, but time will tell.

I love all of you and do come on and read the board a couple of times per week.

Thanks for all your support and advice and encouragement! So here's a before/after face shoot for ya. For those still in the process of approval, it's SO worth it! Keep going and don't give up!

You look so beautiful and happy! Congratulations on your success, you have done an amazing job! It is so awesome how much this surgery changes our lives, a year ago I bet you never imagined running 5Ks.

Thanks Shannon. Yep my PCP had told me my knees were shot...so I definitely didn't think I'd ever be running. Much less actually enjoy running! You look fabulous by the way, you have rocked your tool!

I "caught the running bug" too. But lately my hips have been bothering me a lot, so I may stick to my treadmill for awhile. I didn't get in shape to ruin my body.

I was having hip issues too! Went to the chiropractor and it is SO much better he said my hips were off a whole inch and that's what has been causing the hip and knee problems!

My doc suggested this strap thing you can get at any athletic store where the knee wraps and such are. It looks like a small band? And you strap it right under your knee cap, it's helped tremendously as well! As far as improving running time, we had a guy speak to our running group recently that recommended running 30 seconds, then walking 30 seconds. It improved me to an 11:30 minute mile! so it definitely works!
