Almost nothing bothers my tummy... anyone else have this "problem"
I have always called myself "iron guts," because nothing, with the exception of raw onion, bothers my stomach. I have a strange, lifelong craving for very sour stuff (used to eat lemons until my tongue would bleed) and literally crave apple cider vinegar. Well, nothing seems to have changed since my surgery 2 weeks ago. Yep, I've tried it all. I am scared that I am going to be able to fall back into bad habits far too easily. The only bad carb I have indulged in is a tortilla (no bread, potatoes, etc.) but I am a bit worried.
Has anyone experienced having literally no restrictions early on but finding tempting stuff hard to take later? I really hope and pray I won't sabotage myself and have this all go for nought.

No, I have found many things that do not agree with me now, only advice I can give you, is to choose wisely! This has always been about a choice, we ate when we got upset = choice, we ate to celebrate = choice. Now you have a plan to allow you to lose the weight so try to make the right choices. Good Luck, I am sure someone will be around to give better advice.

I have that problem as well!
It was a real bummer when I realized that I don't seem to dump or have bad side effects from any foods. And on top of that problem, for a while I thought my pouch was a bottomless pit. I could eat all day long for some reason. But then someone here suggested I cut out carbs and it turned out that was the problem. Carbs never fill me up, so I have eliminated them from my diet and that solved that problem. Now when I sit down to a meal, although I can eat just about anything I want, I at least know that I will get too full before I take in too many calories.
So although it is very hard to do sometimes, I have to resort to a lot of the self-control measures like a non-wls person on a diet. I don't like it one bit, actually. I thought this surgery would provide more built in controls. So it turns out it is not as effective of a tool as it is for many people, but there does not seem to be much I can do about it.
Let me know if you hear of any other solutions! We can commiserate together and share tips for how we are staying strong! Agh!

My Nut told me the top 3 foods people have trouble with is eggs, chicken (if too dry), and hamburg. Of course I was scared to death to try them early out. Eventually I did. No problems what so ever. I havent found a food yet that gives me issues. The only time my stomach does give me problems is if I eat too fast or too much. I havent tested the waters yet as far as sugar goes. Sweets have always been my downfall. I definitely dont want to get back into that bad habit again. Cindy
You'll definitely need to control yourself and don't push yourself too hard too soon.
I had very good restriction in the beginning, and the only thing that really bothered me was peanut butter (too much fat). Yep, I dumped on fat and sugars (which I'm glad about) and still can with sugars, even though my tolerance is going up with them.
But - as far as all other food? yep, chicken, hamburg, sushi (3 weeks out), pretty much anything and everything.
I measured my food religiously in the beginning and that's what you need to do too. Your nerves are still not healed properly and you may not feel the "full" sensation, even though you are. You don't want to damage your pouch or stoma by eating too much, especially this early out. Next, make good choices. The tortilla isn't bad, just replace it with a low-carb tortilla - life style changes you'll soon catch on to!
When I got full my nose would run - and still does on occasion now. Funny, it runs after I take my vitamins in the morning! But I've found I have the best restriction in the morning too.

Best restriction meaning I feel full faster first thing in the morning. Seems I can't eat nearly as much then as I can later in the day.
Guess its not all that uncommon for WLS folks to have runny noses when they're full - and, only 1 side runs! Not always the same side either... not sure why its like that!

The nose running is a vagus nerve response just like hiccups. I get them both but more hiccups than anything else.

For a little while I had a problem with chicken, but other than that I never had problems. I haad the sleeve instead of the RNY because I didn't want to dump. Now that I work out so hard and I'm pretty much where I want to be, I want to be able to have a piece of cake at a birthday, etc. So I just have to have self control. It sucks. The "tool" gives me restriction as far as portions, but the rest is up to me. I plan my food the day before, and 95% of the time I follow my menu perfectly. Stay away from starchy carbs. I (and many others) are a bottomless pit with chips, etc. I just don't start on them. I don't have the control to eat a serving, so I don't eat any.
