the best way to cheat

Drinks drinks and more drinks.  My Sleeve started soft food at 4 weeks out, but that's not your Pouch or Plan.

I'd add shredded cheese to the refried beans or mashed taters.

My nut told me that many people had difficulty with eggs because they were not chewed enough.  i couldn't do a hard boiled egg until around month 5.  They just made me sick.

I think cottage cheese that's mashed with a fork, then chewed a lot, highly resembles pureed!

I would go with things that you already know work for you.  if you have to experiment, do it tomorrow and Wednesday while you're still at home.

I couldn't stomach the thought of baby food either.

Hi Price-

I would say go with #1 and #3.  Be careful of real mashed potatoes unless you have tried them before and they go down fine.  I found out the hard way early on that instant mashed potatoes are way different from real mashed potatoes. For some reason the starch in real potatoes can glomm up in your pouch and, in my case, it got stuck there for hours.  That was the sickest I have ever felt since surgery.  But instant mashed potatoes pureed and mixed with some nice ff gravy went down very nicely.

I had to travel a lot the first 2 months after my surgery.  I made sure I got 3 shakes in per day and I drank a lot of water.  I kept skim milk in my hotel fridge and brought along my powder. I also bought cottage cheese, greek yogurt,

Will you have access to a kitchen or restaurant for your breakfast?  You could keep eating your eggs.  Are you making scrambled?  If you are ordering them from a restaurant, don't worry that they were not prepared completely fat free.  I was afraid of eating butter or oil that was used to prepare foods - I thought i would dump from it.  I later learned that it doesn't do anything bad to me... It's the sugar that causes dumping.

Have fun!

I've had the real potatoes with no problem, haven't tried the instant except for some instant sweet potatoes I had in the shelves never opened.  Made them before I looked at the sugar, then just threw them out.
We are staying in a Motel 6 and I don't even know if they have a microwave or frig in the room.  All the hotels 4xs their room rates and we looked for affordable, not nice.  but I can get a scrambled egg even at McDonalds.  I will take an ice chest for yogart and individual cottage cheese.

Price im loving Ur kick- ass indominable spirit GRRLFRIEND .... the World Equestrian Games no less ....4 weeks post ....

now me at 4 weeks was riding THIS contraption..... and only occasionally getting up for pesky work that wouldnt go away ( Grrr those naughty lil debils in Asbury Park )

Ok this is how i did it when i had to go down there ( 2 hour ride either way .long public meetings etc.... ) cottage cheese is a MUST ... and no it does not need pureeing at least it didnt for me ....

sits great and is an instant food u can get in any supermarket - also high protein . I got a ready made milkshake from supermarkets too called chai something ... from some farm.... its in the produce /vegetarian section and is real expensive but its real good . If U cant mix up Ur own protein shakes its a great meal substitute to sip on in an interminable meeting .

I also ate hot n sour soup .... that sat well ( no noodles ) ..egg drop soup also works well for others i personally am not a fan... i prefer chicken corn myself ..... or better yet thai coconut shrimp soup ( tom ka shrimp - not gai) Black bean soup from chipotles and panera also worked real well ...basically i lived on take out soups ( not creamy ones ) . And cottage cheese .

yes i ate fat free cheese slices very early out .. i used to keep them in my purse and munch o ne me when i got hungry . Theyre real soft so no puree necessary .

Oh id be real careful with broccoli and cauliflower soups this early out - U dont want gas .

Thanks everyone.  Ava, I planned my whole summer and surgery around getting to go to the WEG.  If I hadn't been able to have surgery the week I did, I would have waited until after and just now be starting this process.
So here is the plan, let me know if you see faults in it
1. Try some cheese before I go, chew well, go slow.
2. Take all my protein drinks and plan on 3-4 each day to know I get my protein in.
3. When I am out to eat, chose things I have had before and know sit well, even it I don't get protein in first.
4.  For my food to take into the park, cheese, if it does well at home, yogurt, cottage cheese.

I think that sounds like a plan! and something I can live with.

String cheese is considered a soft food. So that might be a good choice for your cheese.

Or anything that's soft like that -- those laughing cow wedges, Kraft American -- stuff like that.

I'm still partial to my Isopure zero carb drinks.   You get 40 g of protein in a 20 ounce glass bottle.  They are fruit flavored and to me they taste just fine.  You can drink them at room temperature but they are better from the fridge.  They give me that boost of energy I need when it is not time for a meal or if I am late getting one.

Have a wonderful time.  It sounds like a great event.

Hey Price!
Well we have the same surgeon, so I had the same eating plan. I made taco soup and chili and then pureed that and melted a little cheese on it, and added some sour cream on it. The shakes are definitely going to be the easiest on this stage! Also if you go for fast food, try the beans and cheese from taco bell. It has some protein and feels like cheating at this stage! Good luck and have fun!
