Exactly 10 mos. after I left, back at the hospital

So, being all active an everything after surgery is usually fabulous, and the highlight of that, skating on a synchronized skating team.  However, at our weekly practice this morning, I basically tripped over a turn and smashed my chin on the ice, meriting a trip to the ER for 2 inside stritches and 6 on the outside.  I haven't had that stupid a fall since I split my chin the first time when I was 7 years old. I mean, even skating 3-4 days a week this summer I fell maybe once I think.

Anyway, I'm basically fine now.  I'm a little bruised on my elbows and right hip, along with having a whole lot of wounded pride thanks to the giant bandage they put on my chin.  It'll be extra fun explaining this to my 12th graders tomorrow!

Thanks for letting me whine a little and get this out.

OUCH !!!!  Sounds like something I would do if I even skated.
But it will heal and you will be the talk of the school tomorrow.

Awwww ....  those infrequent falls  are the WORST  because we truly dont expect them and we  dont know HOW to fall any more  and  dont even wear  pads  right  ?   Oh..U poor baby ....

im trying to think what  will help heal U up  scarlessly and fast ....probiotics , yogurt , vitamin C , vitamin E  . the amino acids  L arginine and l-  ornithine if U can get them .... ( take 1/2 hour before bed if possible  about three - four casules with a  glass of water - most effective )

I think Ur synchronized skating sounds  so cool .. ive never heard of that ..please do come  back and tell us more about it .

Huge hug 4 U   Ava

Bummer! But seriously, tell the 12th graders that you fought off a wild bear...or rabid raccoon or something!

Arg! That's my worst skating nightmare!  OK, maybe not the worst.  But it's up there!

Hope you heal up quickly and that you're not in too much pain.

I'm sorry! I know exactly what you went through- had my first split chin when I was 3 (fell out of bed), and then tripped skating when I was 14.   Soooo much blood from that damn chin! And, sooo embarassing!  And, the stitches are no picnic in the park either.

I didn't know you skated! I did that pre-op and stopping was one of the things that pushed me to get surgery.

I'm thinking about going back after triathlon season is over to finish up my bronze dances.
