Sneak attack!

The head of my graduate program at Yale called me and 2 of my colleagues a few days ago and asked us to put together a last-minute presentation about how we do things for a group of a couple hundred faculty and students. It's a busy time, and the three of us are pretty obsessive about doing things well, but it was such an honor that we decided to make it work. We've been working around the clock to get everything together.

Well, the presentation was yesterday afternoon. I was so delighted to see my old professors. The only thing is that each time I saw them, it was as if I were sneaking up on them, because NO ONE RECOGNIZED ME at first! I kindof turned it into a game. I'd go and greet them, say hi, and they'd politely respond. Then, after a few seconds, they'd say, "wait, is that you?" and then we'd really talk.
I keep forgetting that I look quite different now. It's so much fun to see people's reactions! If only my black dress I was wearing weren't kindof falling off of me. This is why I'm going on an itty bitty shopping trip today. Can't let that happen for the next sneak-attack!

Have you had any recent sneak attacks? Tell us about them! :)

How fun!  I haven't had too many of those lately, but it still does happen.  My most memorable one was a year ago last 4th of July and I was with a girlfriend and we ran into a coworker who had retired.  She didn't pay any attention to me even though I tried to talk to her.  Finally my friend goes "you remember Jody don't you", and she turned and her mouth hit the ground and it didn't go back up for a full 5minutes.  It was so funny!  She just kept going "OMG - That's Jody?"...

No sneak attacks to report. At 249 it was difficult to sneak up on anything smaller than a horse. I still look exactly the same as I did at 249 because I'm losing evenly from the top down. That said, I can't wait to see Zac on Thursday in New Orleans. He hasn't seen me in 12 pounds which have been pretty big 12 for me and have changed how I look. That should be fun!

BUT, I had to come in and give you huge KUDOS for being honored by your professors. You must have felt terrific being asked, even better getting it together with the other two you were working with, and priceless at how beautifully people reacted, both to your presentation of the material and YOURSELF!!!

You go girl. It's been such fun to watch you blossom and grow into your new body. Go Ballet Girl, GO!

Thanks, Lee! It was pretty amazing. Of course, the jerk professor who always had something nasty to say when I was a student had something nasty to say again yesterday. But, as always, he looked like a foolish, bitter old queen as he did. So I'm over it. ;)

Sneaking up on a horse! You're hilarious. And you look pretty amazing, darlin'! So that even loss is a great thing.
