Stressed from waiting

I'm kind of new to this forum.  Thank heaven there's a lightweight board.  I started this journey two and a half years ago, got serious about surgery in May of this year.  Since then it's been appointments, insurance approval, etc. etc. you all know the drill better than me.  Now I'm just waiting for the surgeon to go over my stuff and schedule me for surgery.  I was told it would probably be November or December.  I'm stressing constantly about this.  I'm not a patient person, and just want to get on with my life.  Thanks for being here, I read the forum every day and it keeps me focused and hopeful.

Hi Sue,

I know exactly how you feel.  I started in 2008 and even had a date but things fell through.  So I started again in Feb. of this year with the seminars, then the nutritionalist,  dr. approvals, etc.  It seemed like every appt. I made was two weeks away, then two weeks for results, then two more weeks for more appts....on and on and on!!  FINALLY, I got approved three weeks ago and my surgery is Monday morning!  I am so excited I can't wait!

Hang in there!  I was stressing, too, but in the long run it didn't do me any good!  Your day will come and the wait will be well worth it!  I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Hi Sue and welcome to the LW Board.
Did you have to do a PCP supervised diet or anything?  I had to do 6 months of that and either counseling or support group meetings.  It seemed like it took forever.
Good luck and keep us posted on your journey and when you get a date.

Thank you for all of your encouragement.  My emotions seem to be all over the place.  I didn't have to do the 6 month supervised diet, but have been working with my PCP for the past three years regarding diet, exercise, for my diabetes control and was able to provide documentation to my insurance.  Now all I'm waiting for is the call from the surgeon's office scheduling me for my pre-op appointment and set the date.

Welcome Sue!
I hear you about the stressing.  When i started researching a year ago, I didn't think the day would ever come.  Did the 6 month dietitian requirement (learned alot - was fortunate to work with someone *****ally believed in me and the journey i was embarking on). We worked on journaling, practicing some of the skills i would need after....eating slowly, chewing well, sip, sip, sip.  So, the time has flown by.And now 1 week and 6 days from now......
The support and knowledge here are awesome!
So, glad u found us and good luck.  Hope you get a date soon!

Welcome! You're not alone, I am stressing too! I hate waiting for anything! I am finally seeing my surgeon next Thursday, and hopefully things will speed up after that.  All the necessary paperwork is in, I've done the NUT & fitness meeting & the support group meeting, all they have to do after that is send it off to insurance, and then they will call me with the exact surgery date- which I am told will be mid-late November.  They said they will give me an approximate date next week. Then, it's just the pre-op tests right before surgery.

So, hang in there, you're not alone!

HI all,
I just received a call from my WLS coordinator and she said the surgery scheduler should be calling me this week to set up the pre-op appointment and start my two week liquid diet.  She said the surgery should be in early November so we'll see.  Yahoo.
