Surgery scheduled
I have been lurking till I had some definite information. I changed from VSG to RNY, because that is what my insurance would approve. Sooooo, magically I got approval of RNY in four days. I have type 2 diabetes, so that is probably a better choice for me anyway.
Now I start planning. I enjoy your tips so much. I have a list of protein drinks from your posts, so I begin figuring out how to get samples and start trying different ones. I have given up caffeine and straws (never did drink sodas or with my meals). The baby steps begin in earnest.
Thanks to all of you and especially ~Lee who directed me to this site.

I just got my surgery date too today. I'll be having VSG on Dec 1. I don't know about you, but I'm suddenly very nervous. It's all becoming very real suddenly.
I think you're right about RNY for diabetes. If I had diabetes, I would seriously consider going for it. So many people go off diabetes meds right away after RNY--very exciting.
Wendy, I'm sooo happy for you! Everyone who has the RNY loves it, just as much as the Sleevers love their Sleeves. I think the main thing is getting rid of the diabetes.
This is going to work for you. You want restored heath so much that you will follow the rules. Don't forget to get Vitalady's vitamin chart so that you'll know what you need to stay healthy.
You're already so adorable and don't appear as an overweight woman. Your weight loss will show so quickly and you'll be bouncing around.
Are you developing an exercise routine? Please do so that you won't have a tough time getting yourself moving post-op. This is the perfect weather to be out walking.
Go ahead and jump up and down. Your turn is so soon! :)

Thank you for the encouragement. I walk my dog every day, but I know I need to add a "power" walk, since my dog slows me down with all her sniffing. I have been using three pound weights while I watch TV to help my arms. I don't think I'd be good in a gym, but there is a senior center in town that has open yoga classes.
Thanks for reminding me about the exercise. the "E" word has always been grim to me. But I have been overweight, drifting to obese, for almost 25 years. I never wanted to hike with friends, when I am the slowest. I have considered getting a bicycle, since I live in a flat town. So much to plan now that the process seems real.
You are such a light to all of us here!
