Also heres something to think about ..... maybe its our WARDROBES that need changing .
I know when i was fat ....being a long tall person ankle length well made skirts in elegant fabrics , well made close cut little blazers over tight little boob and waist defining t shirts looked GREAT on me with little 2-3 inch heeled ankle boots , semi high heeled comfy patent leather pumps etc... ( or substitute dark jeans, platform sneakers or boots , a dark v necked sweater over a white crew neck shirt -under a nice jacket a very flattering uniform for a sightly chubby woman )
NOW if i wear this stuff i look like im trying to look FIFTY LOL
NO KIDDING !!!! even in way smaller sizes ....it looks MATRONLY !!!
I need to dress not just my AGE but also my SIZE !!!!!!!!!!!
which means ....swingy .mini skirts n mini dresses , shorts , cute lil boots , tight jeans and WAY higher heels.... a lot more ARM , a lot more LEG .... even my jackets have to be way TIGHTER to be flattering unless my jeans are painted on ....in which case they can be loose vests that show the bare arms ...
I have lost several GENERATIONS in my clothing . Mind U i didnt WANT to . I LIKED my vintage chanel jackets with jeans ... i liked my bill blass and couture adolfo and the amazing collection of classics id accumulated over many years in fashion - vintage pucci , lanvin etc etc .
practically NONE of that stuff suits me now . I look like im in costume trying to dress up as my own grandmother .
Now i was VERY afraid to dress in anything Miley Cyrus would be proud to wear . I do NOT believe in the cougar look ... or mutton dressing as lamb being successful . But through trial and error i have found that believe it or not a high- end fashionista version of her type of look actually suits me now ...when im simply trying to look pretty and playful .
Dressing older ( or "classically " - always SOCIALLY apppropriate ) i think can , if u have a young face and great hair , sometimes make U look really young ( thats why Ralph Lauren clothes flatter ) - but its dicey if U actually ARE older ( the absolutely unbreakable rule is if U were around in the eighties even as a toddler ! never wear eighties clothing lol )
As a semi- fatster younger version of myslef i did a LOT of ralph lauren . Im kind of tired of that preppy look now ...and my recently surgeried overbleached hair is too ratty to really accessorize it well right now - but i highly recommend it to ladies in the 165 lb range .... those clothes are REALLY well cut and flattering to the extreme . They're super classic wardrobe staples appropriate to wear anywhere and there are outlet stores with real bargains .
I also still strongly believe in wearing nothing but well made business clothes to business meetings . Luckily i work for Brooks Brothers so thats not an issue - however I had to get rid of my entire BB wardrobe because I was SWIMMING in it and replace the size eights with size twos. Otherwise i looked laughable and pathetic .
I realize most people here dont have ready access to the fashion district as i do .... but believe me, being well dressed is only partially a matter of money .
As far as stretching money goes , youre better off investing in a few good classic pieces on sale and then scouring the thrift shops in high end towns U pass through and factory seconds shops near U also .
the real trick is to try on try on try on relentlessly and be both creative and ruthless about proper fit .
The other trick is to have great shoes ! they dont have to be ridiculously expensive .. but they do have to be comfy and flattering . Put on a heel or three and see how U look before U decide U look "fine "
Just as everyone looks fantastic in a flannel nightgown ( NOT ) ..... noones body looks bad in their old jeans and their favorite sweater ..... until they happen to see themselves from the back in a three way mirror and get a profound shock !!
Its really kind of ironic isnt it ... but my experinece with weight loss is that the skinnier i get the higher my heels get ... which means the skinnier i should LOOK right .... but i am immediately aware of many figure flaws and discomfort from extra weight that i simply dont see when im just hanging around the house in a comfy sweatsuit lol.
Do U guys know many females in" the biz" wear high heels at home to tone their legs n butts lol ( and improve posture ) ? U dont need special shoes !! Try some heels on , check Urself out in Ur underwear in front o f the mirror .. then decide if U want to stay where Ure at ..... is my best opinion ....

I am 5"2, and at 121.5 right now my BMI is in the healthy range until my weight hits 118. I would of been happy at 125, but I can't seem to stay at that weight, I have hit 123 one week but then it goes right back down. I was worried for a while, eating is hard for me. But I am feeling better these days...the protein coffee has helped me to feel so much better. I am told all the time I am to thin, look sickly and so on. Some days I do feel thin, others I just feel good and normal for a change. I do think it's because family friends only know me as the heavy person....I hope it changes soon and they leave me a lone. My size 5's are getting a little big, thought I throw a pair of my daughters 3's on to see if I can fit into them...it was a wow moment...they fit, wouldn't wear them, to me they were painted on....She is at 105 right now and 5'1 but I think it's mostly because of my new shape, my butt and thighs are no longer! I have to say I still believe my Dr when he told me, our body will end up where it should be, and know matter what I say or do, that is what seems to be happening!

then i go to the fashion district and they ask me to try on pants for a show .... and HELLO my ANKLE wont even get in em though theyre labeled a 25 !! NO stretch , no give , and about as big around in the waist as my HAND lol .....
and thats where i need to be to get PAID the big bux ....
and BTW - my HIPS and LEGS are by FAR the Smallest part of me ;(

I say lose until you feel good. I know I felt great when I got down to 148 lbs at almost 5' 6" but I am a med/large frame, muscular and curvy with big boobs :)
And that was 16 years ago! So I will just see how I feel when I get there...but I do know I would be perfectly happy forever and ever in a size 8 :)
When I was a size 10, several people told me to stop losing. I think they just get comfy with seeing us one way and it is hard for them to adjust...oh well, it is our life...live it like you want to!
You are doing so great!!

I'm 5' 8" and 150...I feel skinny and look skinny but want to be 140...I think I might look a bit gaunt at that weight but I am convinced that it's the place I need to be before the bounce back...I have a normal BMI and have since 170 but I am a size 14 at 170...it's nuts...but that's not OK with me...
It's been 6 months and I am working out a lot but those last ten pounds are WORK..My doc tells me it will be another 6 months before those come off...I just want to get it over with and get on with my life...I could stop now but I would bounce back too much...SEAVIEW

I am 5' 6" and weigh 127 lbs. My lowest weight was 119 lbs. I appeared to be a little too skinny at 119 lbs. I started training to run a half marathon shortly after I dipped down to 119 lbs and it helped me put on muscle. I also had a breast aug. which added about 3 lbs. I used to get the "don't lose anymore or you're too skinny", but now I don't get that. The areas that were really boney are now covered in muscle. Yippee! I'm now training for a full marathon and my body has been transformed. I'm no super model by any means, but I look healthier than I have in a very long time.
It's a personal thing to determine where you feel most comfortable. It may take you awhile to figure it out, but you will. Good luck!
