Ok I made some homemade chili, ( it was frozen and I just heated it up)
It contains of course tomato
Lean beef
Kidney beans
green pepper
Mushrooms.

For the life of me I cant seem to figure the protein/carb/calories in this. I use fitday.com and I know I can custom create my menu but Imade such a long time ag I have no clue what the caloric intake is. I only ate 1/4 cup with greek yogurt as my sour cream. Was really Yummy.
Anyone care to try and help?

I think I'd just find Wendy's chili and calculate 1/4 cup. Early out, chili with sour cream was one of my favorites.

I hear so many stories about what people can tolerate and when!  The chili sounds so good!  My fear is I will never be able to eat again.  Some people a month out tell me even water makes them feel horrible!  I am nervous...my surgery is scheduled october 21!

Hang tough. Here's a trick with the water: add a squirt of lemon or lime juice and a little sweetener. The acid in the lemon agrees with your stomach acids and has an easier time going in and staying in your tummy. The first few days can be pretty rough but things do get better and better. There are cases of strictures very early out, so read up on the symptoms so you are knowledgeable.

I did fine with just plain water, but did drink a lot of crystal light the first few weeks.  Everybody is different in what they can tolerate.  It's a lot of tiral and error, but you will do just fine...REALLY!!  My hardest thing was finding a protein drink that I could tolerate, and I was eating regular food by week 2, pureed right out of the hosp.  Don't get too worried and if you do have any problems, get on here and post, we'll all help you out.  Congrats on your surg. date, and try to stay positive.

I agree with Gina, just use Wendy's or other chili with beans as baseline...you don't have to be EXACT on calorie calculation....most are gonna be "close".
