Cigna and the Doctors office just called?!?!?!?!?!

 Both called minutes after one another, to tell me they got an authorization code for VSG, and the DS if it will be needed down the road.   Now... I was approved for WLS surgery on Sept. 3, as they told me I was approved for any WLS of my choice, so I NEVER GAVE IT A SECOND THOUGHT about them "Not" giving the authorization code for the surgery of my choice, ALTHOUGH the Lap-Band was my first choice... She told me when they approve VSG, it automatically APPROVES "Duodenal Switch" as a second surgery on down the road, I don't know how long the DS APPROVAL is, I will find that out, when I get the paperwork mailed to me.   I know the DS is considered the PLATINUM STATUS WLS over all the others, but I never gave that one a thought, but I am glad I have the option, if this SLEEVE DON'T LIKE ME!!!  I am sure it will... I AM SOOO LIKABLE!!!   Thanks for listening, I am now getting my checklist ready for my surgery and hospital stay.  THANKS FOR LISTENING

Would they allow you have DS without the VSG?  Quite honestly, I wish I'd done my homework before my RNY - I would have given DS serious thought and consideration.

There is a website called DSfacts.com - go read up on it.  I'd also ask the insurance the above question - just keep your options open.

But - there are many successful people who have the VSG and don't need any further surgery.  We have a lot on this board alone!

 Actually, from what I've been told, the SLEEVE is the 1st part of the actual DS.  So they will do the VSG first, and then, if the DS is needed down the road, then it has been APPROVED along with the VSG.  Looks like CIGNA is getting their good reputation back, because for a while, it was hard for anyone to get any WLS approved from them, (WHAT I HEARD).

Hey JANE!!! My date is next week OCT. 6th!!!!  I am so excited, it is all becoming soooo REAL!! (surreal). I hope you enjoyed your vacation!! I will keep you updated, and may even call if I need advice on last minute surgery tips!!  THANKS AGAIN!!!
