Fitness Challenge - September 28

Good morning LW's!! 

Thank you all for the lovely anniversary wishes. I had some grilled chicken and coleslaw...sound romantic huh...lol

So, what is your awesome Tuesday workout going to be like today? 

CHALLENGE:

If someone came up to you and said "Why exercise?? It's a waste of time!!" 
How would you respond? 

Today I am going to do some grocery shopping and a light walk around the block later tonight. 2 mile walk to be precise...just not at a fast pace.

hey sweetie glad ur feeling better
if someone came up to me and said to me " why exercise? its a waste of time " id flex my muscles on my arms in their face lololol. i would say why brush your teeth everyday? its a waste of time. or why eat eevryday? its a waste of time.
exercise is crucial.... if i didnt exercise all along way before my surgery my body would have been in bad shape but because of my exercise lifestyle that i always had my bod is pretty hard and solid exercise is especially important for your heart
i have my 5 k race this sun im so freakin excited wahooooooo !!!!!!

Hi darlin'!! Yes, I am getting better every day as long as I don't PUSH myself too much. Did I mention that patience is NOT in my dna?? LOL This recovery is much tougher than the RNY for cryin out loud.

Anywhooooo.....Great answer!! There are many people that have made a routine out of very unhealthy habits and when presented with a healthy one, they tend to defer and ask why. Why exercise? Why watch this or that? Well, sometimes we get "stuck" searching for an answer because we do what we do...exercise...because THAT is our healthy habit. Sometimes its hard to answer on the fly.

I'm very excited for you on the 5K....you go girl!!

I'd probably agree with them it was a waste of time - but time well wasted.  We need it to keep our bodies healthy and strong, especially as we get older... As far as maintaining weight loss - well, that's a no-brainer!!

Glad you had a good anniversary! 

My exercise today is:  Zumba from 6:15-7:15.  I want to try and get to the gym for a quick 30 minute run before class, but I have a hair cut appt at 4:00 - not sure if I'll have time. 

HW-218/SW-208/CW-126/ Lowest Weight-121/Goal-125 - hit 8/23/09/Height-5'3"

Regain 30 lbs from 2012 to 2016 - got back on track and lost it.  Took 8 months. 
90+/- pounds lost      
BMI - 24 or so
Starting BMI between 35 and 40ish?

Hi Diana,
We walked 2 miles this afternoon.

I probably exercise for a different reason than most of you.  It just makes me a nicer person to be around.  It really helps with my stress level.  Also DH and I do it together and I actually feel we are closer when we walk together during the week.  We talk and walk and it is really nice.  I know that it is helping physically also, because it does make me feel so much better.  It is just so easy for me to slip out of the habit!!

I took Shelby out for a walk this morning, then thought I'd put her back in the apt and go down to the gym to run on the treadmill because of the rain. Turns out that it wasn't raining then at all, so we got in a nice run in the Village and then came back. I tried Gina's wall pushups (40) and did 100 crunches.

I exercise because I want to target and tone. Not a waste of time at all. And it gives me more energy for the day. In fact, I exercise on my busiest and longest days because it helps me through the day.

Have you ever heard someone ask that, Diana?

My response would be, "Ok, I don't exercise, I do physical therapy. Happy?" 

I got in a tad over 10,000 steps by bedtime and 60 push-ups. I'm not having that back twinge any more since starting these push-ups.
