Lack of Ener;gy -- what it means pre-op vs post-op
Ok all of you post-op peeps -- can you give me your opinions please!
Think back to your pre-op days and tell me how post-op lack of energy compares to pre-op lack of energy.
I'm beginning month 2 of my 6 month required class, have a 4 year old to keep up with and am stressed to the nth degree at work. I feel like I'm in survival mode and struggle to get through each day. The work pressure is not going any where any time soon so I'm trying to get ready for this post-op energy drop. I know the increased exercise will help -- I'm walking only now and hope to increase to 3 days per week.
I have horrible stress behaviors so combine stress with PMS and I think I better just buy a muzzle!! (my husband would agree 100%)
Happy Monday!

Well hello there mama!!
My preop journey began a year ago this month!! OMG time does fly...anyways, my preop journey began with a 3-4 month program and diet. I worked with a team of peeps that helped me through identifying issues that I dealt with during obesity and what would be postop.
I worked with a behavioral specialist that helped me analyze a few things and gave me some wonderful stories tips to help address these triggers.
In my opinion, it appears you may know what those stress triggers are. When you come across one, ask yourself what is the benefit of giving in to it. For example...let's say you are so stressed you want to go for the bag of doritos. Ask yourself what the benefit is of eating that and will it do anything to resolve the stress issue? Notice I did not say make you feel better...will it make the stress go away? NO...so then you ask yourself...who's driving this thing...you or the "stressor"? Address the issue, and move on. I know it sounds super uber easy but it is not and I have been battling lots of crap over the past 6 months or so. I have a much longer analogy that I have posted before, I'll see if I can post it to my profile later. If you don't see it...private message me and I'll send you more... :)
I always post long anyways and don't want to clog up the space...lol
Hang in there and CONGRATS on your journey!!!! It is worth it....

Thanks, Diana -- I knew I could count on some "been there done THAT" story with this one. I have been controlling the eating end of stress relief these past 6 weeks...with a LOT of self talk -- I know my cube-mates think I am looney as hell! I just need to get that exercise habit going and commit to it as my new life begins. I know it will make me feel better, too.
During my second six month class (we discussed nutrition post op) last week I could visualize myself post-op and I've not been able to get there before -- I know I can do this successfully!!
Wooo hoooo and screaming helps, too...
