Oh My Goodness.....

I just came upon a picture of me taken at an OH luncheon on January 23rd, three weeks pre-op.  I almost don't recognize myself. But I do remember that awful feeling of being so fat that I felt like I was caving in on myself.

It's 8 months since that pic was taken and I am suddenly overwhelmed with gratitude at how this year has unfolded.  I feel so fortunate to have had the Sleeve, especially with only a $100 co-payment.

This morning I saw 172.6 on my scale.  I haven't been in the 160's since around 1977 but I'm getting close now.  This morning I hiked for almost two hours on hot dusty uphill trails.  I feel good in my clothes for the first time in over 30 years.  I am finally seeing the changes in me when I look in the mirror.  Halleloooooooya!    Not bad for someone who's turning 60 in 10 days!

I   my little Sleevie, and all of my OH and Kaiser WLS buddies!

Thanks Gina.  I hate it enough that I posted it on my profile because I NEVER want to forget.  I need all the accountability that I can get.  Kaiser tells us that 1 in 3 WLS patients gain their weight back.  I'm sticking close to all you winners to help me be long term successful.  You motivate us all Gina!

Reading this made my eyes tear up just a little bit!  I am so happy for you and your success with this journey!  I am so looking forward to feeling what you are feeling and it will happen soon!  It's post like this that give those of us on the other side the hope and the excitement of it happening to us.  Thanks.

Beverly,  You're only 8 days from surgery.  I know how excited you are to finally get on the other side and do the work to get to goal.  For me, I'm excited to watch your journey unfold.  It's all coming to you before you know it.  Hang on for the ride of your life!  :)

Lee, you have done so good.  You are going to see the 160's before long!!

I ran across a picture of me at my highest weight.  It was from my son's wedding rehearsal.  So embarassing when I look at them now.  I wish I could cut that person out and put the newer me in them.  I will keep it on my profile also because I don't want to forget where I came from and where I could go back to if I don't do what I am suppose to do!!

Congratulations on your success.

Thanks Linda.  I've yet to post a pic of me at my top weight.  I was down 20 pounds in the pic that I posted today.  I know what you mean about wanting to replace the fat pictures.

Lee,
I know what you mean, each of us will have to be ever vigilant to not get complacent on this journey. I will be 58 in 4 days and can only say how much better this birthday will be then some in years past. To have my health back on track is truly a gift from God. Take care-Brenda
