I may need surgery

Have had 3 episodes of pain, the last one was severe.  Saw my surgeon today and he said it is probably either my gallbladder or a hernia.  I had some tests today and will find out the verdict on Monday.  I'm not feeling so great tonight and the thought of surgery is upsetting.  On a brighter note I have lost 75 lbs in 6 months and am 6 pounds away from a normal BMI.  Wish me luck.  Has anyone else had to have these surgeries after WLS?

RNY on 10/25/10 with
My surgeon said statistically the gallbladder doesn't fare so well after WLS. So, having gallbladder surgery is not surprising (I am in he process now of having mine checked out BEFORE RNY so as to avoid problems in the future.)  If mine is at all compromised I hope to have it removed before WLS.  Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you Kiminey.  As far as I know I never had any problems before this WLS.  I hope yours turns out ok, please keep me posted too!  I find out Monday.

So sorry for your pain, my surgeon takes out gall bladder and apendix (sp?) during surgery so that problems post op don't happen.
Swinging some critters for you.

Thank you bbwvixen.  I have heard a lot of surgeons do that.  Wish mine would have!  I hate the thought of surgery.

So sorry you are feeling bad.  I had my gall bladder out years ago, when they were still doing all of the open.  But my goodness, you have done great loosing.  Congrats on that.
