Fitness Challenge - September 23
LW's....how are we doing this fine lovely Thursday?
What plans do you have today for fitness/activity?
I am going to work on relaxation and meditation techniques today. Part of fitness is taking care of your mind along with your body. Right?
Your questions for today....Actually it is just 1 question 2 parts.....
WHY do YOU exercise and WHAT KEEPS you motivated?
This is a very important question because although sometimes we get into a routine, it is always great to understand what emotions drive our actions. This aligns our body and mind and heart.
For me....the reason why I exercise is because I truly enjoy the feel good feelings my body feels during and after the workout. I also enjoy the physical and mental challenges it brings. I enjoy pushing that last lift of weights when I really think I cannot do one more...and then I do. I enjoy finding my limits and punching through those barriers.
What keeps me motivated to keep working out and staying on track is the relief from stress (emotional and physical) and I love the results. More endurance, more activities I can do, and I feel good all over. It is the go-to therapy for the mind, body, and spirit...for me.
What about you??
I hope you all have a great day and I look forward to seeing what you all write :)

I got up at 4:30 and got on the treadmill. I did 45 minutes and upped my speed more than usual. I was dripping when I got done. Then the usual floor exercises crunches, etc.
Tomorrow is outside running day.
I started exercising because I wanted to lose my weight faster. Now I exercise because I love the way it makes me feel. I am so energized when I am done. I feel icky on days when I don't work out. I stay motivated because of the lack of energy I feel if I don't, and I also look better and better over time when I exercise regularly. I also have that fear of getting fat again in the back of my mind.

Right now, I must say that I exercise because I must. I'm not getting much joy out of it yet. However, even when I was fat (fatter), I exercised. I love being active and I know that the only way I can do the things I want to do, driving and riding my ponies, gardening, etc, is to be in better shape.
Didn't walk today but I did 30 min on the Wii, 15 on yoga and balance and 15 on step and walk arobics and I am pooped.

Hello LW's!
Diana, I think I exercise so much because I'm afraid I won't get to goal if I don't. That said, I'm really liking my walking and how it makes me feel. I exercise to build good healthy habits of how I want to take care of myself. Walking is great for balance and stress relief and posture and quiet meditation time. I value it for all those reasons.
When I was at one of my first WLS group meetings, a very skinny RNY woman said that post op we need to find a passion to help use all the energy we used to put towards food. She mentioned things like crafts, shopping, exercise. That day I prayed that my new passion would be exercise.
I still think of myself as the person that lays on the couch until the urge to exercise passes, but that said, I'm up and out of the house early to exercise and spend my lunch hour exercising as well. So maybe I'm changing and building those good new habits. :)
Exercise today:
Morning - Day 1 of Couch 2 5K - yay, I could do it all. I'll see how my ankle faired by how it feels tomorrow.
Lunchtime - walked 30 minutes
Evening - walked 15 minutes

I only got in 3 walks and 60 push-ups because I was tied up with meetings and trying to help some of the folks with deadlines make their cut-off.
I enjoy walking especially when the weather is nice...as in nothing freezing on the sidewalk and not 100 degrees. Walking helps keep my back from getting too tired and it feels good.
