Why am I dizzy?

This past week I have suddenly been dealing with bouts of dizziness.  Last night it was so bad that I had to grab on to the handrail for fear of falling flat on my face.  I'm 10 mths out and have not dealt with this since the early days of being a post-op.  Any thoughts on why this might be happening now? TIA

I am so sorry you are having those symptoms...I agree it is your blood pressure. AND the reason I think so is.........I have been doing research on other health issues (long story spared) and stumbled upon hypotension.

Hypotension can be caused by dehydration!! If you are not drinking your fluids then your blood pressure may dip too low.

I always have low BP and in the hospital it was like 90/50 or something incredibly low. They were freaking out and I did not know why. A coworker of mine has high bp so we tested (home machine) and my BP is and has been consistently "lower" than most @ 103/62 with pulse @ 58

Exercise can also lower BP....

BUT...DISCLAIMER!!! If you are suffering serious bouts...got to the DR or ER or urgent care....take care of you so they can tell you exactly what it is.

The BP thing makes sense and I should be more diligent about consuming plain H2O!!

Thanks for your insight!!

When I get dizzy dehydration is the culprit.  I too have blood pressure on the lower end like Diana, but when I drink up it goes away.

Since surgery I have been diagnosed with postural hypotension.  I get dizzy when I stand up too fast, because my BP drops dangerously low.  They told me to up my salt intake, wear soccer socks and drink more water.  Oh yeah and to stand up VERY slowly....Yeah that'll happen, specially at work.  It might go away or it might not.

Hey Kelli,

Are you having any other symptoms with the dizziness?  I agree with the other posters that it could be low BP due to dehydration, but could also be that your blood sugar is dipping low as well.  I have been having some bouts simular, but when mine happens I get extremely shakey and weak.  I quickly grab some protien and orange juice and within 10 minutes it is like nothing ever happened.  It might be worth a phone call or trip to the Dr. just for piece of mind.  Best wishes to you on getting through this, sometimes these things are hard to diagnose unless you get somewhere quickly to be checked while the episode is happening.

One of the ladies in one of my support groups I go to has this problem, and it turned out, she was not eating enough. I am not sure how much you are able to get down, fluids for sure are also a huge part of this too. Call your doctor too

I am pre op, surgery in 2 weeks and that is what is wrong with me. I am scattered because I am excitec and not getting enough to eat.
