I am 3 weeks post op and am wondering what I can really have. I recieved a partial list of approves foods (soft diet) but am wondering if there is more that is allowed.
List is;
Egg
Cheese
Cottage Cheese
CousCous
yogurt
peanut butter
milk,skim
tofu......

Ok thought I did well with peanut butter, turns out I didnt and ended up hurting my pouch. CousCous came up before it hit the bottom, So are there any other options for me?

I LOVED  the following

Refried beans w/cheese and salsa
Pureed chicken (add broth if too dry) w/cheese and/or salsa
Mashed potatoes and gravy (I added non flavored protein powder)
Hot cereal (again I added protein powder)
ground beef/ground turkey (chewed real well) add moisture if needed (ketchup, etc)
Wendy's chili pureed...(let cool a bit then re-heat)

I'm sure the rest of the gang will pipe in but I tell ya, I lived off of these things above and NEVER got  bored. I also added non-flavored protein powder (24g of protein) scoops to my pureed food. I could taste the difference but hell it was better than the liquid phase and I was VERY ready for ANY kind of food. Also, I masked it with salsa and shredded cheese if it got bad enough (not the cereal or potatoes of course...lol)

Good luck and have fun with the food

I tried a spoonful and after about 5 minutes, I started heaving, sweating and got extremely dizzy.I know it was the peanut because it was the only thing I had eaten in 2 hours and had not drank anything in the 30 min. It was horrible.

Ahh - you dumped on the peanut butter - not a fun thing to do.  I also couldn't tolerate peanut butter for a long time after surgery - it sat too heavy in my pouch and I also dumped on the fat.  Now I can eat it by the spoonful (not really a good thing).

Pink darlin'.... mwah!!! You know I  that salsa and cheese stuff!!

Tonight I made a taco lasagna and I added SALSA!!!! Whoo hoo.

2 lbs ground beef (93/7 lean) browned up
1 small can of pinto beans,
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 small can of green chilis
1 pkt of taco seasoning
1 pkt of ranch seasoning

Layer beef/bean mix with whole wheat tortillas and cheese. In a 9x3 pan I was able to get 2 layers only. I probably should have used a smaller pan...

Bake @ 400 until bubbly and then broil for a quick crisp.....yummo!!

I ate pretty much everything at that point. I love fish, and it went down really well (minus tuna). So tilapia, salmon, scallops, shrimp. My surgeon and nut just said chew really well. I made egg salad from egg whites and ff mayo, that was really good too. Season things differently, so even if you eat the same things over and over, they will taste different.

I guess it is good the way he is transitioning us. After surgery,
stage 1. liquid diet (2 weeks)
stage 2. Soft foods(2 weeks)
stage 3. finely chopped meats and vegetables ( 2 weeks)
Stage 4. everything normal, chew thrououghly

I understand his reasoning but it really does get bland.
I did try the refried beans, didnt see them on the list before. Added cheese and taco seasoning. It is wonderful and so far no issues. Keep fingers crossed. Thank you everyone.
