i'm new to light weight board!
I just found the LW board the other day! I had RNY 6/21/10 (today's my 3 month surgiverary) and so far i'm down 60.6 pounds! WOOHOO! I finally reached Onederland a few weeks ago...WOOHOO!!! I'm down to 189 pounds. my dr wants me to weigh 155 and i'm hoping that's do-able! i'm going to give it my best shot! i take my vitamins religiously....i drink my liquid most days....but i still can't eat much at all. my nutritionist says don't worry about it...just concentrate on getting my protein at this stage. (i got concerned because my sample menu for this stage shows that i should eat 2 oz meat, 1/4 cup cottage cheese and 1/2 pear at one meal)....that just ain't gonna happen! my pouch can hold an egg....or about 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 oz meat but that's it. and i'm not complaining.....just wnat to make sure i'm doing all i'm supposed to do! they say no snacks between meals and at mealtime i'm to always eat my protein first....well....after i eat my protein....there's no room left! so....not getting anything except protein!
had labs done today and should get the results friday....
and.....i'm still watching and waiting for the dreaded hair loss! my hair is fine and thin already and i don't have hair to spare! my hair got really thin due to a vitamin "d" deficiency they discovered several months pre-op. after taking mega doses of vitamin "d" i'm seeing new growth but i'm real nervous every time i comb or shampoo my hair just wondering if this is going to be the day it starts! my hair is so thin that if i lose much....i'll be having to go to a wig shop!
thanks for being such a support for each other! so happy to be here!
blessings to all,
Jenni
What kind of D does your Dr have you on? Us RNY'ers can ONLY absorb Dry D3. Normal doses of D are D2 and our rerouted systems cannot convert it to D3. There has been more than 1 person on this board who was on Dr prescribed D and it wasn't the right kind.
As far as food goes - I really like hearing you're getting your protein in first. Are you drinking protein shakes? Protein levels and stress from rapid weight loss is what causes hair loss... mine started at 5 months, but others' here started much sooner.
As far as portions - like your NUT said, don't worry about it as long as you're getting your protein in (you'll find there are many of us on this board that are PRO protein shakes).
Its definitely a life adjustment and learning process - but it sounds like you're doing a great job with it!
Glad you found us.

pre-op - i took 50,000 units of vitamin "d" per week
now i take the D3 - 2,000 units per day & hoping the levels say up!
i was checking on the total protein i get in each day.....looks like i get about 80 grams per day. not going to stress over the rest of it.....i'd just as soon not eat anyway! just don't want anything. have no apetite....just trying to make sure i get in the fluids and protein.
i am having issues with my energy level. sometimes i get a bit dizzy. keeping a log of my blood pressure readings this week. would be nice if its time to give up the blood pressure meds!
As far as getting dizzy - that happened to me when I got low on fluids and started getting dehydrated. It could also be related to blood pressure....Also - are you taking B12 sublingual? That can have an affect on energy.
Your daily protein looks pretty good - is that all from food?
