changed my goal weight without too much
regret. having 11 pounds to lose seems so "easy".
here's my update; my surgeon prescribed acarbose to help regulate my hypoglycemia and it seems to be helping. has anyone else been prescribed acarbose? what were your findings?
i'm still struggling to maintain my weight and havnt lost any but remain positive for the most part,
ive been keeping to a very strict diet of firm meats per my dr. and nutritionist. i find it rather dull and miss oatmeal. my energy level is low but i'm not mentally depressed. i get all my horses done and am still jolly enough to play with my kids, but i have yet to regain the vigor i had prior to surgery.
i had an evaluation with a plastic surgeon in hopes of having my "pooch" belly removed via liposuction only to be told it was mostly skin and lipo wouldnt remove much. the surgery would leave a scar from hip to hip to remove the skin and i;m not ready for all the down time required. so i guess i'll become friends with my belly.
i hope you are all well-everyone seems upbeat. all the best-

Wondered where you have been. I don't have diabetes, so I and don't really know too much about Acarbose...but I wish you the best with it. You'll reach goal in no time, I bet. Good luck. Sorry your diet is so boring right now...maybe it will change later, once hypoglycemia is under control. I too, will have to make nice with the belly LOL...I don't see plastic surg. in my future either.
Check-in more often, and be sure to let us know when you reach your goal.

After all my weeks of liquids, I'd kill for firm meat, LOL.
Seriously, if you keep doing what you have been doing, it will work and you will get there. Hopefully your energy will come back when you get the BS regulated.
I just started doing my horses again this week. It was so good to be in the barn.

How are your labs? B12 and iron?
As far as plastics go, the hip to hip isn't that bad, its when you go vertical and have the muscle tightening is when it gets harried and complicated. My hip to hip scars have healed pretty good and didn't give me any grief. I too also had only skin...
I also don't know anything about acarbose. I have hypoglycemia so keep us posted...

My mini TT scars healed so well my surgeon didnt even see them after what - seven years ? I can wear any thong , any string bikini , even film Naked ( not that I WOULD ) and Nobody would know .
So dont let scars deter U . Mederma works wonders ( its really gelatinized ONION extract U know) ...
Incidentally more and more insurance covers a LBL or TT post bariatrics 100 % so its worth looking into !

Hopefully the acorbose will help with your swinging insulin levels and help you lose those last 11.
I am sure you dont miss the drastic fluctuations in your blood sugar.
I am not on acarbose, so dont have first hand info to give.
Congrats on your success and try to stay positive. Maybe this will help to give you back the vigor you had prior.
Just curious, I thought I was depressed, had low energy and felt tired and blah all the time and found out the my thyroid levels were low. Have you had yours checked? Just a thought.

all my labs are good though my insulin was dropping below 2ml when it's supposed to be in the ~20-30ml range. so the acarbose is meant to keep the glucose levels consistant. it's not a diabetic issue.
as far as the acar goes (from plastic surg)-i couldnt care less-i'm a frankenstein of scars. it's the 2 weeks without riding/downtime that i'm reluctant to commit to.
thyroid is good-
depression has been an ongoing issue for me since i was a child but the lethargy i feel is different than the depressive gloom if that makes any sense. i'm in constant contact w/ my shrink and my meds have remained consistant for 13 years.
i appreciate everyone's thoughts-i'm surprised so few people have been prescribed the acarbose (only 2 folks on the main board responded that they had). if it's so effective -i wonder why people having hypogycemic issues arent told about it. ive only been on it a couple of weeks but i have only had one very mild BS drop which is a big change from a major bottoming out everyday.
have a great day-and thanks again
