Good Morning. Who knew?

What are some of your weird post-op experiences?  I was just thinking about the first 2 years post-op when my balance was totally off. I mean, I could topple over just standing still! lol  I guess we get use to balancing our bodies a certain way and then with rapid weight loss the balance is totally different. Who knew?

I thought it was so weird when I grew an inch. I have been 4'11" since 4th grade. Never grew a bit after that. I wasn't even overweight. But after I lost weight, I'm 5'0".

I would love to be 5'0 at any point. I am also 4'11".

Ditto on the balance and height, Gina & Shannon. I'm off-balance all of the time (thought it meant something with vitamins, hadn't even thought that it might not be so serious!) and I've grown from 5'2.75 to 5'4.0, which I love because I've decided that I'm no longer officially short. ;)

I'd add that my feet are smaller, too. I was buying 7.5s before surgery (I liked my shoes a bit loose) but now can only wear a 6 or 6.5.

Oh, I thought of another thing: I'm apparently looking much younger now. This is good and bad. First of all, I didn't think I looked old before. And in my line of work youth is viewed with suspicion. (Just the other day, at work, I had a woman stop me and ask if I was old enough to be in my job. She didn't let it go!) On the other hand, aesthetically, young is supposed to be good, so, I guess I'm grateful!

Yeah, at 4'11.5", my 6'3" DH keeps telling me I'm going to be a tall and slendar person.

Nothing weird so far, but I have teased some people at work that one day I will walk in a blonde! ;)

I have the balance thing too, but was told I have postural hypotension.

Good Morning!

I asked for my height to be measured at my 6 month post-op.  Still 5'4".  I was hoping for 5'5.  Oh well.  Shoe size is still around 6.5 so really no change there either except foot isn't as chubby and slide around a little in shoes.

Balance seems to be ok.  I haven't really noticed much of anything.  I think I've had a textbook recovery.

Since I was out of town last week, I haven't done my 3 mile walk to work in over a week.  I'm looking forward to it this morning.  It's still kind of dark out with big grey clouds, but I think I'll do just fine.

Balance was a big change for me too, and allowed me to skate over the summer as it improved. Other who knews... apparently I take after a different side of the family than we always thought (physically, anyway...), and I absolutely love raw veggies, especially when I can just go out back and pick from DH's extensive garden. I'm going to miss that in a couple weeks - last night he made the most excellent chili with tomatoes, poblanos, and jalepenos from the garden... um!!! (some of it is lunch today too - and I used to detest chili!)

Copied from M&M:   I was so disappointed when so many of you said you "grew" in height and my GYNE said I shrunk, well I just got my new pants hemmed and my seamstress said "I have to make them 3/4 inch longer than usual".....YEAH!!!!!!  It's wierd but I feel taller so I was really surprised when they said I was shorter.
