Surgery this Week...super stoked super busy
Super busy shopping getting ready for Surgery tuesday....I have lost 4 pounds preop to help shrink my liver
dealing with family still objecting my surgery...they told me I couldn't stay with them pre or postop because they don't agree with my decision and if they let me stay with them....that means they approve of my decision....oh well
Tuesday will be here before we know it
See you all soon

I also struggle with this very issue. Due to being a "lightweight" I think I am much more defensive possibly than if I were "morbidly" obese... How dumb is that? In fact, my view to my pcp was "someone has to be the Lightweight in this scenario, right?" She answered "absolutely"
My issue is that I own my salon, and have a lot of "regular customers". I simply cannot sneak off to have this surgery, or believe me I would! I don't want criticism, or even opinions for that matter, so find myself in a pickle. I am scheduled for surgery on Oct. 25th, but my insurance authorization hasn't cleared yet (and due my my BMI being around 38 I am afraid they will deny me.) I do have sleep apnea and an extensive history of dieting, losing and regaining with extra, so hopefully...
I admire your bravery. A family's support means a lot. I am sure they will come around. In the meantime be sure to embrace your support on here, as I am very proud of you for making this decision, and seeing it through...
Good luck! And congratulations on the "birth" of your new LIFE!!

Family may not always approve of what we do but it is their job to love us unconditionally. My mom wasn't really on board before surgery but she is one of my cheerleaders now. She worried about me getting too little. Every week she calls to find out what I am weighing this week. She reminds me to eat, etc. Even if your family isn't on board they should be there for you. I hope that someone will be around to help you. You will need it~ enlist a friend or someone! Don't try to go at this alone! You need a voice!!!!
I had a bowel obstruction 2 days after surgery. If my husband had not been with me to be my voice I would have died. He told the doctors they needed to look further he insisted that something was wrong with me. He told them he had seen me in pain before. Something was wrong!! I was swelling my heart rate wouldn't come down. Thanksgiving morning the doctors told my husband they didn't know if I would make it or not. They opened me from my breast bone past my belly button. The doctors told my husband after the emergency surgery that he was a very lucky man. I was scheduled to be discharged the day I went bad. If I would have been at home I would have died.
You need a guardian angel. If your parents won't help what about siblings or a neighbor???? I will be praying for your speedy recovery. Good luck!

You can friend me, too, if you like. I am so sorry you are going through this. Hubby sat me down for a LONG talk this morning...I thought he was over his reservations but I was wrong. Glad we had uninterrupted time to talk it over and clear the air. Things are much better.
I will be 48 hours behind you and feel so fortunate to live only 15 miles from the hospital. Still a little anxious, though.
Swinging IGUANAS for you, my friend.
