Didn't want to be gone too long. I've been having computer issues including sending one out to get repaired and using one that is slower then death.I also picked up another online course so until I get my comptuer back sometime in the next two weeks I won't be on much.
I finally decided to stop drinking red wine at least until I get to my year annivesary in March. I started again in Mid June and did it on an off for the past few months. It slows down my progress too much and I've worked too hard to let that go on.I have a little more then six months to my year and I'd like to lose another 30lbs. I think that is very doable.Slow movement and learning is better then no movement and not learning...
Hope everyone on the board is doing well.

Good to hear from you again. My sister was here after my surgery and had a glass of wine each evening. Of course, I had just gotten home and wine wasn't on my mind at all. I've never been a big drinker, hate to lose control or get sick, but would enjoy a glass with friends on occasion. I'm planning on staying away for a good while. I'd rather be able to eat my calories instead of drinking them.

Hi Andrea,
I'm always so happy to see you posting here. Sorry about the computer problems.
Learning is definitely what it's all about. Whether it's snacking, drinking wine, drinking with meals, anything that hinders our progress. As long as we're learning I really believe we'll all come out on top of the game.
I learned last week at a conference that I can't snack (carbs abound at snack time at the conference) without gaining two pounds. I learned my carb lesson and came home to straight protein meals while I detox.
Will it be difficult for you to give up that glass of wine?

Hi Lee, my computer problems will be over when I get a new Mac towards the end of the year. Yes, learning is what it is all about. That and to me not feeling any shame for any learning that needed to happen.
It was more difficult to make the decision to stop having wine then it was to actually give it up. I am bound and determined to get the most out of this surgery and I needed to stop having wine because it gets in my way period. Thank goodness for learning right?

You bet regarding the thank goodness for learning!
I remember when I was in OA, I would decide that I needed/wanted to lower my carbs and give up sugar. I would think/debate/think more about it. Almost with the greatest dread and fear of giving up the food that I most cherished. When the time came to do it, I felt such relief and it was always easier and more satisfying than I imagined it could be.
So yes, I understand when you say that the decision was more difficult than taking the action.
I love my Mac laptop that I keep in the living room. I do have a PC in the other room that I need for running my work programs when I work from home on Friday's.

Before my surgery, I decided to give up wine for 1 year starting at surgery date. So far, so good. It makes things socially complicated at times and I have a new appreciation for the difficulties folks have with living sober, but it's also a comfort to know that I don't need it. I'm not sure I would've known that before.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Glad to hear from you!
I figure you were probably busy with all of your course work now that school is back in session.
Good luck with reaching your goal. I think you will be successful. Sounds like you got a good handle on the situation.
Sorry to hear about the computer, glad you are able to get it repaired.
