1. Q:  Are you taking your vitamins?

2. Q:  Are YOU checking over your labs?

3. Q:  Are YOU tracking your labs on a spreadsheet to catch downward trends?

4. Q:  Are the vitamins you are taking working for you?

5. Q:  Are YOU addressing particular labs that are problems?

6. Q: Want to share what's working for you?  Go ahead, please.

**not intended to be anti medical type persons but YOU have to stay on top of your vitamin labs yourownselves!

1. A:  Yes, ma'am. (I'm talking to Vitalady as if she were my VitaGeneral)

2. A:  Yes, ma'am.

3. A:  Yes, ma'am.

4. A:  Yes, ma'am.

5. A:  Yes, ma'am.

6. A:  Yes, ma'am.  I'm following your orders by being on your vitamin plan.  I have adjusted my individual vitamins to bring up zinc and lower vitamin A. Now I take about 150mg of zinc a day and only 25,000IUs of vitamin A (palmitate). I increased from 1 Proferrin ES to 2 and still take 60mg of Tender iron. Reduced to 100mcg of selenium every other day.  I take a B1 capsule every day, but only 1 B-complex a week.

Mission targets:

Protein:             7's

Albumin:           4's

Pre-Albumin:     20-30's

Iron:                  80-100

Ferritin:             200-300

HGB:                12+

HCT:                 36+

Vit A:                60- 80

Vit D:                80-120

Calcium:           9.0-9.4

PTH:                 20-40

Vit B1:              Mid to top of range

Vit B6:              Mid to top of range

Magnesium:      Mid range (but also go by if we have leg/foot cramping)

Zinc:                 Mid range

Vit B12:            1000 +

Folate:              Top of range 20

AST (sgot):       Below 40

ALT (sgpt):        Below 40

This is NOT medical advice, just my own targets for the main blood levels I watch.

We usually want to "meet or beat" pre-op levels. In some cases, higher is better, and in other cases (Cholesterol, PTH for example), lower is better.

The only things I personally don't mind being on the high end of “out of range" are Ferritin and B12.

Thanks Gina for keeping us on the straight and narrow!

Too soon for labs yet, but finally having success at getting all my vits in, everyday since sunday. This has been so hard, because the ole grouchy pouchy was very offended by all these vits.
Thanks for posting the targets.

1. Q:  Are you taking your vitamins? Yes, ma'am, the ones I know I need as of right now.

2. Q:  Are YOU checking over your labs? So far I've had just the pre-op lab but yes, I did check it

3. Q:  Are YOU tracking your labs on a spreadsheet to catch downward trends? Yes ma'am but no trend yet. One lab does not a trend make. (except for my Vit D)

4. Q:  Are the vitamins you are taking working for you? Unknown except for the D3

5. Q:  Are YOU addressing particular labs that are problems? Yes ma'am

6. Q: Want to share what's working for you?  Go ahead, please. I asked questions particular to my labs here on this board.

1. Q:  Are you taking your vitamins?   Yes ma'am.

2. Q:  Are YOU checking over your labs?  Yes ma'am.

3. Q:  Are YOU tracking your labs on a spreadsheet to catch downward trends?   Yes ma'am.  However, one lab does not a trend make.

4. Q:  Are the vitamins you are taking working for you?  Too early to tell.

5.  Q:  Are YOU addressing particular labs that are problems?  Found my Vitamin D was low normal and am taking D3 to supplement.

6. Q: Want to share what's working for you?  Go ahead, please.  It helps to have a kind, lovable wife like Atilla the Wife to keep you honest.

 1. Q:  Are you taking your vitamins? Yes, ma'am, EXCEPT that most days I only get 1/2 of the calcium citrate I should be getting.  I almost always miss my afternoon dose.

2. Q:  Are YOU checking over your labs?  Yes, ma'am.  I mean, I will when I get my 3 month labs at the end of the month.

3. Q:  Are YOU tracking your labs on a spreadsheet to catch downward trends?   No, ma'am.  But I will.

4. Q:  Are the vitamins you are taking working for you?  My problem is the multiple doses of the calcium.  And that I hate taking them - I gag violently every time.  My other problem is that the best Iron for  me costs $50/month!  Arg.

5. Q:  Are YOU addressing particular labs that are problems?  I will, ma'am.

6. Q: Want to share what's working for you?  Go ahead, please.   I take capsules because they go down easier, and I'm glad I found that solution.

You really dont' need to spend $50 a month on iron.  Have you tried Tender irons from vitalady.com?  They are carbonyl iron plus vitamin C - 60mg per capsule.  400 capsules for $26.99.  I take 4 per day, so it lasts me 100days or over 3 months.  You don't necessarily need that many, depending on your labs. Some take only 1 and others take anywhere from 3-5 per day. This iron is highly absorbable and is easy on your stomach with no constipation.

4. yes i think so ..other than my hair seems to be getting thinner  ;( n i have leg cramps n tightness

5.  when i take silica the hair situation gets better .. then i forget to take it lol

6 ) iron n zinc n silica DO work for hair loss - i swear.  doubling the amount of chewable childrens vites seems to be the right amount to keep me happy and not overdosed ....
