New to the Lightweights Board...
Welcome to our LW Board!! We LOVE Newbies!!!!
My RNY has worked good for me although I do envy some of the DSers, but I am perfectly happy with my tool. Unlike you I didn't do any research until after I found the LW board and by then I didn't want to start the process all over.

Welcome to the LW Boards Amy. Good luck on your surgery and hope you get a date soon.
Did you have things you had to do to get insurance approval prior to being approved? I am very happy with my RNY. I wanted lapband, but had two surgeons tell me I need RNY due to the diabetes. Plus I read more and decided I needed something more than that. I looked into VSG, but it was not approved by my insurance at that time. I think I ended up with what I need for me. It is a very personal choice for us all.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Amy!
I expect to have surgery in Nov too :) I was shicked at first to be called a lightweight too LOL! At least I am somewhere in the world....
I probably will have bypass but still have to meet with my surgeon next week to get his input. I have been heavy since I was a child (except for some brief starvation in my 20s) so I feel like I need a metabolic do over
Looking forward to seeing you on the Loser's Bench!!

Hi Amy,
I'm new to this forum also. I'm just waiting to get my surgery scheduled. I did alot of research for the last two years and chose the RNY. My surgeon thought it was the best for me because of my diabetes and I think it's a good choice. I'm hoping my surgery will be in October, but we may end up having the same day. Glad to meetcha.

Hi Amy and Lucycat, welcome.
You will find this one of the friendlest, most helpful of all the boards. I really enjoy everyones help and support.
I am just 6 days out from RNY. I wanted a sleeve but insurance wouldn't pay and at 61, I was ready, not wanting to wait and fight.
