It"s been way too long!
Wow, I cant believe how long it"s been since I've been on here. I just checked in and I got a message from Roz asking how I've been so I decided to come back and post. So I am doing really good, I officially celebrated my 1 yr. surgiversary on June 4th!! I am very happy with my weightloss results and very proud of myself. I am down 80 lbs. and still going. I have been fluctuating between 148 and 150 so that is kind of frustrating but I have def. lost inches so I am happy about that. My weight loss ha**** a plateau and I havent lost since April so I am not sure if this is where I am at for good or if I will lose anymore. I am very happy where I am at and excited that I can maintain a weight. But of course I would still like to lose some more. I would really love to be 135-140 but we'll just have to see what happens. I know deep down that I will have to start exercising, which I have to be honest here, I have not exercised at all. But that's ok because I realize in order to tone up and keep my weight off I will have to get into an exercise routine and that is my ulitmate goal to get in better shape and feel good.
I have to say that I havent had any health issues and my cholestorol and bp have been really good. I do have a very frustrating side effect and its really bothering me so I was hoping you guys could help me out. I have always had issues with sweating, I am always hot, even in the winter i sweat. But now I notice that I can literally sweat at the drop of a hat! I could go wash the dishes or bring the laundry down stairs and I am dripping sweat!! I hate it and I feel very self-conscious about it!! I'm wondering if this what they call "dumping syndrome", I know that it's not always dumping but it does happen alot after I eat or drink something that may have too much fat or sugar in it. LIke for instance, I just went to my kitchen to get a protein shake. I started to drink it as I was putting some stuff away and washing dishes. So I come upstairs and I am still drinking my shake (which is a pre-made shake callled Muscle Milk. I am looking at the label and it only has 3g of sugar but I just noticed the fat grams are 9!! Holy cow, I didn't realize how much fat is in here. But is that what is causing me to sweat so much??? If anyone reads this and how any ideas of advice to offer I would be so grateful!!!!!
Thanks so much and I hope everyone is doing well. I am going to try and check in much more often. I really do miss talking to you guys!!
talk to you soon,
Elissa
If it continues you may want to ask your surgeon.

Oooo - good point Linda - my blood sugar also does a nosedive and I get those same types of symptoms, shaky, hot/sweaty, tired, etc.
I need to buy a glucose monitor and when I'm like that check my blood sugar levels - haven't done it yet.

You can buy glucose tablets that will help bring it right back up if it drops. I used to keep them in my purse. I have not had any problems since I had surgery, mine was all pre-WLS. I hope it continues that way.
Did you go home or are you still at your DD's? I know it's hard to leave them. I hope your daugher is doing ok.
Linda
I'll be staying a few more days. She wants me around - I'll stay. Thinking of going home on Wed. By then they should have their routines down.
She's doing much better. Headaches are gone. She still is having problems nursing, but I think I (as well as a friend of hers) has convinced her its not the end of the world if she bottle feeds - especially if she continues espressing breast milk. They go to a Lactation Specialist tomorrow to see if they can get her to breastfeed again. So far its just been a power struggle.
