Hi Roz!  Had a Reactive Hypoglycemic episode last night - not fun.  AND I knew it would probably happen, but it didn't stop me from eating/drinking the stuff.  NO MORE TORTILLA chips for me, especially if I have a glass of wine/beer in my hand.  My 2nd ex was even sitting here telling me "you don't want to do that....".   He's a good conscience.  We go out to eat and he tells me to slow down... no one else does that - but I guess I had him good and trained by the time we divorced.

B - coffee and 1 pancake with a drizzle of syrup on it
S - double protein drink (planned)
D - ?

Vits:  yep
Water:  have to do better today
Miles:  going for a walk

Tell me again what might kick off a hypoglyc episode. We have a recent revsion person that posts on our DS M&M thread that has them when she doesn't eat often enough. Is it 2 different things? Too much carbs then a crash or just an empty tummy? Reactive Hypo isn't something you see much on the DS board and I don't know what to suggest to her. Thanks.

Gina- I would think it would be more prevalant in an RNY'er who has sugar sensitivies than a DSer.  But - what makes it happen for me is drinking alcohol and eating tortilla chips.  Takes about 2 hours - its like a dumping syndrome.  Get icky feeling, want to go to sleep, etc.  It also can take a couple of hours to go full blown.  A cracker, peanut butter or something with a bit of sugar is what takes it away.  (that doesn't make sense to me, but oh well)

I know some people have it hit and don't now when it will.  I know its a combo of carbs/alcohol for me.  Just alcohol with no carbs or carbs with no alcohol and I'm fine.

So - no more carbs/alcohol for me.  AND - I've found that the farther out I get, the more sensitive I get to it.  I didn't eat many chips last night when it hit.

Was her revision from RNY to DS?  If so, then she could still be susceptible to it.  I am going to garner a guess its carb related.

She should probably purchase one of those sugar testing kits (I need to) to test it when she hits that low to see if it really is a sugar issue.  If its when she doesn't eat much, it could be triggered by something else.

Almost sounds diabetic to me....

So today I jumped on the scale...okay, I stepped on lightly...and I was up 3 lbs. HHHhhhmmm, could it have been that devilish popcorn I ate yesterday?? The whole microwave bag??   Oh well, today is a new day. So I put on my flip flops and leashed up the dog and we went on a nice long walk around the park. Boy it felt GREAT to get out and walk outside. Also, I will be more conscious about what I am putting into my mouth. So...

Jody - that's funny it is amazing what changes we go through. My hubby has a head shot pic of me in March of last year and OMG I wanted to cry. I'll try to get them on my profile and post. I forget that many people remember me that way. What a journey!!

BTW - I feel fantabulous compared to yesterday. Just a slight 'bruised' feeling rather than feeling impaled (sp) and feeling like I was gonna fall inside out like I was for past 2 weeks. lol
