Indigestion off and on

Hi all hope everyone has been enjoying the fall coming in the weather has been really beautiful here on the east coast. I have been having allot of indigestion off and on along with gas. It comes intermittenly and I have not been able to associate it with anything I eat. After I fall asleep I am suddenly awaken by reflux/choking on acid.

I have had a full abdominal CT and upper GI with endoscope and everything is fine. I take omeprazole 2x a day plus vitamin d and b. I get my recommended protein in and have not been cheating. I know it is not life threatening but just inconvenient. I am down a total of 22 pounds, which I am very pleased with.

Take care all.

Congratulations on your -22 pounds! I wish I knew what to tell you about the reflux. I woke up last night needing to chug Maalox too. It happens every once in awhile but not near as bad as yours sounds.

Usually a good probiotic will help with gas. A lot of folks swear by Primal Defense Ultra. I've gotten it at VitaminShoppe and WholeFoods.

Glad to hear you tests were ok. Sorry to hear about the reflux. Can you put bricks under your bed to make the head higher than your feet? See if a little gravity can help reduce the reflux.
Good luck and congrats on your loss!

You might need something stronger than the omeprazole..is that previcid or something else over the counter? I have to take 3 of those to get the same results as 1  Nexium.  You can get a rx from your dr.

I also agree with a brick under each foot of the head of your bed. It doesn't raise u up too high...I can barely tell I am elevated. It does help...I now travel with two old paperback books to elevate the head of whatever bed I am using, lol.
Good luck,
H

Unfortunately reflux is a common side effect of the sleeve.  You need a stronger PPI than Omeprazole.  Please call your doctor and ask for either Nexium, Kapidex or Protonix.  They are much stronger and should work better.  You probably will need to take them 2 times per day as well.

Congrats on your Surgery and your 22 lb. weight loss....AWESOME!!!!!

My acid reflux medicine is the only pre-med that I haven't quit taking.  I don't really suffer any more with acid reflux but it seems to help me digest things better.  Use Malox or Rolaids for quick relief and then talk to your doctor about a strong med.

Bed, Bath, & Beyond also has some really attractive bed "lifters" that you can get in 3 adjustable sizes.  They really helped us.
