OK.  So I'm seeing that my initial plan won't work.  But if you read my last post, you'll remember that I was trying Tracy Anderson to *build up to* starting ballet again.

But then I remembered that I was once a serious dancer, and that body is still there under the fat.  I stood in front of my mirror and did some basic ballet steps and guess what?  I still have them!  So why not just go to a beginner's ballet class?

Then, I discovered that THERE IS SUCH A CLASS beginning tonight within walking distance of my house.  It's called "Ballet II", it's a 6-week series, and I'm going!

After I finish this series, my plan is to take the Beginner or Intermediate Ballet class at Joffrey (which is right around the corner from my house).  They're drop-in classes, so I can toggle at whatever my skill level seems to be at that point.

My goal is to be back en pointe in January.  I remember from my youth that ballet never really clicked until I got up on my toes - then the world opened up and it became joyful (and more painful, of course.)

Dancing was such an important part of my life, once upon a time.  I'm getting it back tonight.  And it wouldn't have been possible without my WLS.

And now I'm off to find some ballet shoes.

That is so awesome! Congratulations. I danced - jazz and musical theatre for 13 years. I'm sure it's like riding a bike...you'll be right back in no time.

ooh, where?  I used to take Indian dance as a kid - I love the positions.  Bollywood classes sound soooo fun - I bet that's a great workout, too...

I can't wait!  Now I'm just thinking through what to wear.

Thank goodness my studio doesn't require leotard & tights.  So I think I'll pull on some leggings and wear a sports bra (the kind that comes down to the waist.)  And maybe a skirt, too.

I need to see my body in the mirror in order to get my form back, I think.  (Even if I don't entirely want to see it!)  So no hiding!

MD, I might need to send you some pictures again.  Let's see what I look like tonight!  ;)

That's awesome!!!  Glad you did WLS while you were young enough to go back to dance.

One of my LOVES was tandum white-water canoeing, but think I am way too old (and don't have a partner at this point) to even try that again.  But a goal is to go white-water rafting again....I love being on white-water.

Best to you on this.

That sounds amazing!  What will need to happen before you can get back on the rapids?  Just curious.
