Protein Hot Cocoa mix....

I've made it using protein powder and Swiss Miss 25 calorie diet hot cocoa packet.  I'm going to try it again this morning after my Protonix kicks in.   I actually took a tub of Hydro Whey and Swiss Miss packets to my office last week in prep for winter.

I guess I was looking for a faster way.  Dump packet in cup, ho****er from cooler, drink!  OK, so call me lazy.

I guess I should save the money and go for the mix that gives me the most protein.  I mix with 4 oz of soymilk, so there's protein there in addition to the 30 in one scoop of powder.  I really wish I liked it in decaf but can't seem to tolerate any sweetener in coffee.  I've always just been decaf with creamer.

Thanks for all the great tips!

yes, i use these pretty often. they are a little pricy but you can make them very hot without the stuff curdling like other protein drinks. they are 80 cal and 15 g protein which is a nice boost  in protein if you want a hot evening winter drink. taste is good - better than most protein drinks. wish they would make this stuff in a big jar rather than just packets. Noticed other posters suggest ways to make coco with more usual protein drinks that have more protein and think this is fine too though i haven't done it yet. will this winter. But if you are like me and are tired at the end of the day and see that you are a few grams short of protein, its an easy solution and i keep them handy. also a good option for travel. have a big trip coming up and am gonna take some.  ONe thing - the directions on the packet are odd and wrong. the thing to do is heat a cup of water in micorwave until really hot (about 2 min) and then stir in the powder. it takes quite a bit of stirring to disolve but is decent. i like the stuff and only wish i could buy it local without shipping costs. D

 Hi Diane,

Nashua Nutrition has the Proti hot cocoa in a big canister.  That was what I was going to buy.

I made a cocoa this morning with Hydro Whey (30 grams of protein) and I just feel a little nauseated after drinking it.  Maybe I should try a powder with less protein next time and see how it is.

I use GNC Pro Performance 100% Whey Protein 20 grams per scoop but I use a scoop and a half, so I get the same 30 grams plus 5 grams from the hot chocolate mix and a little from the  milk I add.  GNC has a deal that you can buy there protein and if you dont like it, you can return it within 30 days with your receipt. So, go and try the chocolate in your swiss miss hotchocolate but dont' use the 25 calorie packets of hot chocolate, use the 60 calorie packets. They rip you off with the 25 calorie packets - it is the same stuff but with half the stuff.  Compare the weight of the packets and nutritional info and everything is approx double in the 60 calorie ones.  I found it tastes much better with the 60;s too watery with the 25;s, I ended up using 2 of the 25's making it very expensive that way. Even better here , they have a supersize tub that you can use by the scoop.

Thanks Randi!  I think this morning I used the 60 calorie and didn't like it.  I'll try the 25 calorie tomorrow and see if I like it better.  I think I'll try it with Optimum Nutrition Chocolate powder tomorrow.   Lot's to experiment!

I love all the warm proteins because they go down easier and are so comforting and nummy, but I'm having problems keeping them from getting chunky.  I can't even seem to get my Click totally smooth and drinkable.  What am I doing wrong?

you need to mix the protein with cool water first and then add the protein mixture to the hot drink afterwards.

That's what I did, but it still got clumpy.  Hmm... I'm protein-challenged.  I'll try it again with different temperatures
