And I am going to wear a bikini

I am the planner of our family. I have SAD real bad (there I go rhyming) and so I like to go somewhere warm and lay on a big rock lizard like. The thought of planning an entire family vacation someplace that will most likely involve passports, too much!

So I said to my partner, it is all yours, do it up!

So whatever he comes up with, I will go along with a smile and I am bringing a bikini. Haha!

Right now I am using a wheelchair for my herniated discs and knee. I have been stuck for about 2 weeks but I have also been bed ridden for 5-6 weeks. I get up and walk at night, just to keep my muscles strong (learned what muscle atrophy is doing to my poor gimptastic knee) and I do PT exercises before bed.

Right now, I can't lift my leg up.

I got a cortisone shot in my knee on Tuesday and the pain has been amazing. The more I elevate the better it feels. So I have my leg up in the air like I am giving a big kick in a chorus line.

I do believe my surgeon broke some rules in contacting my gp and psychiatrist - don't remember signing any hipaa papers. I got to the office for the injection and he started going on about calling these people up. I had sent an email the night before to my GP asking for a referral to the local pain and back clinic (since the one in Chelsea is so so awful). Also apparently it can take up to 3x epidural shots for pain relief from bulging discs.

I have never had these experiences. And being in a wheel chair is the worst. I lack coordination and I am trapped in my house. Even bathing is treacherous.

But you know what? It is all temporary and I will (hopefully) be snorkelling someplace warm with my loved ones once winter comes around.

Oh and a question. Do I need to schedule a 6 month checkup? Is that how it works? Will I get blood work to see how my vitamin efforts are doing?

I have fetanyl patches and oxycodone, it helps. I don't sleep more then 3 hours at a time because of the pain.

I remain most or some of the time, good to go. Poor husband is care worn. My sister and Mom are of no help and that is too bad.

The husband has agreed to move to Northern California or Oregon!!!!!!!!!!!!

Find a community of artists and be close to the mountains and ocean? I can do that!

Love and strength to you all,

Rose

Soooo sorry about all your health issues, guess you are ready for some time in the sun, bikini and all!! You go girl!!!  While I think Portland and area are wonderful, if I had SAD, I'd think twice about that one....hard to weigh out the options sometimes....mountains AND the ocean vs little sunshine....

Let us know where your DH plans your trip.  Keep up the good attitute...and hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi Rose, thanks for the update.  I wish things were moving more quickly for you towards your full recovery, but you're right, it will happen and you'll be sporting that cute bikini.  I hope your partner picks a fabulous place for you to be a rock lizard.  :)

I agree with Jane. I don't even have SAD to a clinical level, just subclinical, and I know I would not make it in a place with as little sun as Portland (and much of Oregon). Come to California!

Rose,
Wishing you well, babee. I hope you can get the treatment you need for that back and knee.

6 month labs really should come before the appointment. Can you call your surgeon or PCP and get your lab script? Once you're pretty sure the lab reports are back, schedule your 6 month appointment. Are you seeing your surgeon or a PCP?

Labs you might want to make sure are on your script: https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AU46vLsRDC9rZGhranhtcXpfO GNxcDk2c2c0&hl=en

Keep us posted.
