Hello all, its been awhile since I have been on the board. Thought I could do this by myself. So its been 10 months since my surgery I am down 83 pds and for the last 2 months the scale has not moved.  I have 30 more to go and it seems impossible.  I made a few friends in the support group I go to for my surgeon and one person eats whatever basically she wants (within reason) weighed the same as me had her sugery 2 weeks after me and down 40 more pds than me.  Someone else down 35 more and had the surgery a month after me.  I know that we are not supposed to compare but I do.  I have up't my protein, my fluids and the only thing I havent is my workouts.   I dont know what else to do to get the scale to move.  I am trying not to get discourage but oh my gosh I am.
At night I get the munchies and do have quite a few sugar free popsicles other than that nada, I only eat and drink what I am supposed to.
Oh and my friend said she lost 20 pds in a month and doesnt know how she did it - exact words it just came off.
UGH- I guess I am venting and asking for guidance.

Hugs, Stacy!!  You've done awesome to lose 83 pounds in 10 months!  I am the slowest loser on the planet so I can totally feel your pain.

I hate to tell you this, but when I joined the gym and started working out with a trainer a couple of times a week, the scale started moving again.  Is that an option for you?  It's expensive but the surgery was expensive, too, and I figure it's all part of the same project.  And having the trainer there to help me is just so much better in every way than trying to work out at the gym on my own.

Are you journaling your food?  I write down every single thing that goes into my mouth, and it's really eye-opening because those pesky carbs and extra calories can really creep in if we're not careful!

Hang in there -- you'll get there!!

Thanks, no I do not write down and cannot afford a trainer.   I started to write down but I know its an excuse but work full time, alittle one at home so I am always always busy.   I also believe I am the slowest one to lose weight.....

It's vital that you track every bite that goes in your mouth. Otherwise, you have no way of knowing how many calories you are ingesting. I use sparkpeople.com. I work 10 hour days and work at home on the weekends, too. So, I know what a pain it is to find time to write everything down. Trust me, it's hard. But, once you get used to it, it's amazing how quickly you can get your food input.

Best of luck. I hope the scales start moving for you again soon!

Hugs,

I think the food journaling would be a good place to start. I use the food log right here on this site. It helped so much! Each day I plan what I am going to eat the next day, plug it al in to the computer and make sure it is within my guidelines, and I don't eat or drink anything if it's not on the menu. I have 3 kids, a husband who is never home, go to school full time, work out 6 days a week, etc. Please please please don't think I am coming down on you at all, just giving advice. It actually makes things easier to plan ahead, I don't have to think about food during the day at all. To fit my workouts in, I started getting up earlier. My health and weight loss is important to me...so I make time. In the evening instead of sitting at the tv with the popsicles, sit at the computer and plan your next day. Pre-make your lunch and snacks, etc. Things will get moving again.

I have to agree that planning your meals out and posting-I use dailyplate- to see total calories and carbs then tweeking your menu will help greatly.  Lin

I think journaling is important too.  I use fitday.com.  Try it for a week and you can easily see if you need to tweek your calories, etc.

You are probably just having a stall, but I KNOW how discouraging a stall can be.

I don't have little ones, but I do get up at 4:30 so I can exercise before work (I just won't after work)...so getting to bed early is a must for me.

Try not to compare yourself.  You've done GREAT so far!!

Best of luck to you...it WILL happen.
