Post-op Day 7

Well, I am still here, but struggling with fatigue, low energy, mood swings, and forcing myself to eat and drink enough. For the past two days, I have almost hit my fluid and protein goals. I am sticking to NF Greek yogurt, because it is mild and I can add extra protein to it. Vitalady's samples are great, because they are 1.5 scoops and contain 34.5 gr of protein. Two of those per day, just about gets me to the protein total.

I gained 9 lbs in IV fluids, but after the first few days of not meeting my protein and fluid goals, I'm glad that I had the extra fluids in me. My pre-op weight was lower and the surgeon warned me that some people might try to talk me out of surgery. Why would I change my mind, just before going into the OR? Crazy.

Enough for now.

Sounds like you're doing great. The energy will come back in a little bit. I think you're doing everything right.

I just feel like crap. I hope that it gets better in the next few days. Not much pain, but the mood swings, light-headedness, and lack of energy are the main issues. Getting enough fluids is a full-time job. Thanks for listening.

Sounds like you are doing what you are suppose to be doing.  Your energy will come back, it will just take you a litle while.  Rest when you can.  Don't forget to walk, sip and rest!!
Take care.

I've been thinking about you and glad to see you posted.  Sounds like overall you are doing really well.  Keep up the good work!

Did it take long to get your samples from Vitalady?  My surgery is in 18 days.

Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way.

Congrats on making it through safely.  Just remember that it gets better - each day, you'll probably be able to do something you couldn't the day before.  I tried to keep track of those things early on, and it helped.

I didn't really get my energy bac****il 5 weeks.  Others are different.  Here's hoping that you're feeling back to normal in no time!

You have to face the fact that you are currently going through the worst of it. It only gets better from here. Life really sucks the first couple of weeks after surgery. Once you get the hang of everything, it will be great. Pretty soon, you will be wearing darling LITTLE clothes and will feel light as a feather!

Hang in there and realize that we are here for you and it's going to get BETTER!!!

Hugs,

Congratulations on your surgery....
Weeks 2 and 3 were the WORST for me!  The nausea, head-hunger, fatigue, and tummy pains about did me in....Week 4 things started to get better as I added some soft foods in...

Give yourself time to heal...you'll be feeling normal in no time!!!

I am so excited that you are getting your liquids in. It is good information to know about the IV fluid retention after surgery.. I would have freaked, thank you for that information!

How many times all of us have heard, " you are doing so well why are you going to have surgery" .. they are not in our bodies and do not feel what we feel.
No one is going to change my mind either !

You can add the protein to pudding mix too.. I have added that to my shake to thicken it up a bit.. takes the edge off the shake too. ( I gave away my good shake mix)

Later missy

Sorry to hear you are having such a rough time of it, esp moods and energy.  I am VERY GLAD you found a protein that agrees with you this early out.  It took me about 6 wks to find one.  It does get better, hang in there.  (((Hugs))).
