That's Great Lee!  Did you have an underactive thyroid which keeps you from losing weight?

My Mom has an overactive one and has been losing weight weekly which has been a big concern to the doctors.  Her's has a huge goiter so they are removing it on Thursday.

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

Roz, I've been insisting for several years that I have the signs of an underactive thyroid.  Two weeks ago is the first that my doctor has agreed to treat me because I kept going up and down this year while being tested.

I will swing some lizards for your mom!  Please let us know how she's doing!

Lee, that is great!!  My DD started taking thyroid medicine about 3 months ago.  She had actually lost a lot of weight after she had her baby.  They said hers is not working like it should and put her on Syntroid(?).  They said she might lose more weight now.  She has actually gained in the last 3 months.  They ran more blood  work and told her they might have to increase it.

Glad they got yours right and you have had this great success with it.

Thanks Linda!  We'll see in two months how my test numbers change and if I need an adjustment in my meds.

When I started on my thyroid meds, it was a slow transition, until one day, I realized I wasnt so cold anymore and I started to lose a little weight. It probably took about 3 or 4 weeks for me.
Enjoy running like a fine tuned machine now!

Thanks Maria!  It sounds like from what everyone has written, that it can take different amounts of time for the transition.  I'm just happy with how I' m feeling thus far.  :)

I am glad it is  finally working for you. The persistance paid off.  I just got my labs back and my thyroid levels are way off.  Unfortunately the jewish holidays are this week, so I can't get my Endocrinologist for about 2weeks.  Hopefully after the holidays are over, she will increase both my synthroid and cytomel.  My TSH was on the  high side 3.4 (which is very high for me - it was 1.2 last time and .4 the time before and my T3 was very low)  Maybe if I increase my dose, I will lose the few pounds that I have gained this past month - I now know why I gained it.
