How soon after surgery to our comobities disappear
I don't know if it's weight, metabolism, or what that moves the blood sugar and high blood pressure into the normal ranges. I know for me, once I'd lost about 25-30 pounds from my highest weight, I didn't need the CPAP machine any longer.

Hypertension was down about 50% after 30 pounds lost, gone after 40 pounds lost, and now in the excellent range. Sorry - no answers for you on the other two.

I would say 20-25lbs. I had to stay on the preop diet longer than normal before my surgery because it got rescheduled. I had lost 20lbs before surgery. The day I had surgery I took my last blood pressure meds. I had complications after surgery so it is hard to tell exactly how long but it won't be very long at all. I am thankful to not have to have any meds in my life anymore. What I used to spend on meds I now spend on cute clothes. Sounds like a good trade to me. Best of luck Val!
I'm the opposite of everyone it seems. While I have no experience with apnea or diabetes, I do have HBP. On surgery day they took me off the hytdroclorothiazide. A few weeks later my BP was still elevated so they put me back on the meds. Then my BP dropped and they cut the does to 1/2 pill daily. Last Saturday it was high again at my eye doctor and then this week it was the highest it's ever been at my 6 month checkup, so now I'm back on a full dose.
My doctor said that I still have the same heart etc that I had at the time of surgery and that what's happening for me isn't all that unusual. I bet I'll be off it for good when I shed more weight.
So I guess we're just all different. But there's so much good stuff to look forward to! I hope you're one of the lucky ones that's off all meds immediately!

I took my last insulin shot the day after surgery before the weight loss. I can't explain why but it was a blessing. I had to lose about 50 pounds before I was able to come off my BP meds. I took 2 1/2 pills that I gradually reduced. I still hang on to my c-pap for sleep apnea, but I don't think I really need it anymore. It's just hard for me to let it go, I have slept with it for 16 years. Wishing you the best!
