Gina's right....don't waste time second quessing yourself!!!! My only regret about my having surgery was waiting until I was older to have it done. It has changed my life 100% and I am so extremely happy with my new life.
I lost 75 pounds on WW when my "baby" was 5 years old and I gained every pound plus back within a year and then tried it over and over again for the next 23 years. Every year my momentum at WW got worse because I had failed so many times. Now my "baby" is 29, married, and has a 2 year old. I am so blessed to be able to keep up with my grandchildren but I missed out on so much while my own girls were growing up.
How many times have you tried it and how much have you lost? Have you kept any off for a period of time?

I don't know if the feeling is normal or not. By the time I decided to have surgery, I knew there were no other options for me. If you still feel that you have other options, you can pursue those instead. However, I think that if I were you, I would go ahead with the surgery. For you to be approved for WLS, you have to be morbidly obese and have tried to lose weight on your own. If it didn't work before, it probably won't again.
Most people will not keep the weight off without surgery once they need to lose 100 pounds or more. Only about 5% of people are successful without the surgery.
Make sure you are comfortable with your choice, but think hard before passing up a chance to have this life saving surgery.
Hugs,

Yes, it's normal. The question is: what is different this time than the last time(s) you tried to lose weight without surgery? I asked myself that and I had to admit that there was nothing different. So I went ahead with the surgery.

I'm still pre-surgery and have had those same feelings of maybe I should try one more time. Maybe you should do just that. I mean don't cancel surgery, but maybe go back to WW or try a diet. I did it for a week, and all those diet feelings came back. All those frustrations of trying to stay on plan. I had the frustration of not losing as much weight as I thought I should and feeling hungry.
Dieting again only solidified my choice of having surgery.
By the way, I also have Aetna and we applied for approval Aug 31 (Tuesday). How long did it take you to get your approval?

I am kind of where you are, too! I haven't been approved yet, but hopefully will soon, and I think....well, maybe I can do it. But when I see that most people who have had WLS say their main regret is that they didn't have it sooner, it makes me want to move forward as fast as I can and get there as soon as I can. Hang in there!
